What! Are you saying it isn't through-hole components and point-to-point wiring, hand-soldered in near darkness by troubled Americans? What a travesty.

I think the Curtis chips that Sequential uses are socketed. But yeah, that looks like a MoogerFooger from the 90’s.

Where are the hamsters? I saw no method of powering that thing in the pic. I'm reasonably sure real synths all have proper hamster wheels inside, though I guess gerbils would be an acceptable alternative. No doubt Behringer will be using some kind of Chinese rodent nowadays...

That looks very nice - I like the aesthetics, but TBH none of these drum thingies get any juices flowing for me. That's an area where sw has really left it standing. I can do so many things in my DAW with drums more easily, more creatively and more quickly that I wouldn't dream of going back to drum machine hw. Was sorely tempted by the RD9 but really I had to accept that it was pure nostalgia - I know I wouldn't make great use of one these days. It kinda surprises me still every time I use Groove Agent how deep it is. And if I want synthesized drums my normal synths can do it every bit as well as a syndrum.

I suppose they must sell, as Behringer keep making them. Just not for me.

I mean, clearly it looks like it is meant to load samples (and not just the vintage ROM sounds), and thus could be amazing at the price, and also look, it has an analog filter to boot! I wonder if the distortion is analog (probably not). But yeah, it could be great or it could be another pain in the bum.

Inside the JT-16 (Jupiter 8/16)? I love these teasers, keep it up Behringer.

[Actually an old post but never seen this before]

This is a newer picture of the insides of the Pro-16?

Designing the PRO-16: The 16-Voice Revolution
We are excited to share an update and achievement with you: the recreation of the iconic Prophet 5, but with a twist – our version boasts 16 voices and many new features that push the boundaries of what's possible in a synthesizer.
Recreating this synthesizer was no small feat. The engineering work involved is extraordinarily complex, requiring meticulous attention to detail and precision. Our team of engineers had to navigate the intricacies of integrating thousands of components to stay true to the original sound while adding modern capabilities.
One of the most challenging aspects of this project was the development of an 8-layer printed circuit board (PCB). For those unfamiliar, a PCB is essentially the backbone of any electronic device, housing all the components and ensuring they work together seamlessly. An 8-layer board means there are eight layers of circuitry stacked within a single board, allowing us to pack more functionality into a compact space. This complexity is necessary to manage the increased number of voices and new features while maintaining signal integrity and reducing noise.
The result is a synthesizer that not only honors the legacy of the original, but also enhances it with 16 voices, offering unparalleled polyphony and richness. This modern version includes:
- Multi-mode filters. Providing a wide range of tonal possibilities.
- 8-mode atrophy settings: Allowing for extensive modulation and sound-shaping capabilities.
- Poly aftertouch key bed: Delivering expressive and dynamic playability, making it a dream to play.
These advanced features make the new PRO-16 a powerhouse for today’s musicians, blending the classic sound with cutting-edge technology.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and can't wait for you to experience the new PRO-16.
Stay tuned for more updates.

Nice and probably aiming for the same price as the ubxa

Post

They're their own biggest competition at this point. I'm not buying the UB-Xa because I'm planning to buy the JT-16.

Both the JT-16 and Pro-16 are on my radar. Talk about classic bread and butter synths. And there's always the possibility of the UB-X Desktop.

That's the issue with having so many things a willing market is waiting for.
Nice problem to have as a retro synth lover.

Ditto. I was ready to instabuy a UBXa, but when they announced the Jupiter my gear lust instachanged. No doubt they'll have announced something even tastier by the time the JP comes out. :?
