Does anyone find answering a post from 2005 redundant?

No. I think it's amazing to be able to continue a conversation over 20 years. Also; That Moby is kinda bland sometimes is timeless, so....

With your only post!
On one level it’s garbage, on another it’s brilliant.

Yes, he's reading this and it brought a tear to his eye.

No, I don't think so. Mobi' music is still nothing. Nothing changed after 20 years.

God, I'm so embarrassed by the bullshit I wrote 20 years ago. Two decades later, ya Moby is great. Voodoo Child Baby Monkey is great. Play and 18 went on to become fav records of mine, over the years. Sorry I ever wrote that. God, I was so pretentious

Lol, also been listening to All Visible Objects and Wait For Me over the years too. Hope he never read that shit, lol. Saw him at Area two with Bowie and it was amazing. No idea why I wrote that shit

What a 21 year trip... Fun read. Glad you're still kickin', deggy.

To be honest Deggy, I could have written your original post myself. I loved the early rave stuff, I loved Everything Is Wrong. I met him at a release party for Play and I could barely form a sentence.
But while Play WAS interesting, it kind of illustrated some of his musical tendencies. (if that's a fair way to put it)
And more crucial to me .. Listening to some of that stuff, I can really see my own musical habits that come from the Moby-isms that I don't love. Hah. So he is/was a big influence.
It's funny that this is a 20 year old thread knocking Moby.. and fair play to his output and all that. He doesn't need to answer to me for anything, hah. But ya, it hasn't really spoken to me for a while either.
edit.. I can see I kind of already said the same thing last time.. sorry

I like some of his stuff, dislike other stuff, same as many acts. I have to say though that he covered Roxy Music in 2020 (My Only Love) and I think it's one of my favourite ever cover versions of anything. It proved he can branch out from his archetypal early hit machine style and is not a one-trick pony. When I first heard it I almost didn't recognise it as Roxy and it has a beautiful atmosphere.
Anyway, it can't be over-rated. All music by everyone is under-rated if YT is anything to go by in the comments. The Beatles and even Beethoven are under-rated y'know.

People change people grow, people's taste change. I personally love Moby. Porcelain used reverse synths so well. Very was about his mom's mental illness and one of my faves. The best was him taking those old field recordings and making them danceable. (Natural Blues, Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad.)
