Holy shit!Lawnmower Of The Damned wrote:It's the last track off of "Eternal". If I recall correctly Tristania also had some funky B3 bits on some album or another. I'll listen to my Tristania collection at work tonight and get back to you on which songs.Voidoid Surrealist wrote:Shit, I've got to track that one down now...I haven't heard Samael in a while, what CD is it on?
Certainly sounds different than their Worship Him days! They're downright catchy fun-metal now! And they're pulling it off, too...
Yeah, but I bet they're really only 100 pounds after they take off all the leather with 10p nails sticking out of itLawnmower Of The Damned wrote: As someone said earlier, cheese is in the ear of the beholder. I happen to have a tollerance for 120 pound norwegian men with corpse paint growling their lyrics in order to hide the fact that their english pronunciation is hilarious.

Yeah, their sound has changed quite a bit. I still love the older stuff, and Eternal and Passage are among my favotite metal albums, but I'm luke-warm on their latest album, "Reign of Light". Whatever you do, do NOT watch the music video for their latest single, as it will cause you to lose all respect for them.
The music video consists of 2 swiss guys head bopping to very dance-ish music and kind of speaking some rather inspirational sounding lyrics. The message is very different from their old "Worship Him", and "Into the Pentagram" days. If anything, it seems like Samael have settled down and had kinds, and now attend church regularly.
I picture Vorph and Xi sitting around after they sent the album off to the record label going, "Oh shit, we forgot to mention Satan in the album!".
If you MUST see the new video...
Stream it here: http://www.samael.info/rol/reign_of_lig ... .htm#telep
Or download it here:

Cheesy instrument ????
There is no such thing, only cheesy musicians that can turn any instrument into major cheese.
Great artists will sound great on any instrument.

They still are, but they started mixing in the Flava. All modern rock stations seem to have done the same.Hink wrote:]

Just for all of you.
edit: it's intentionally horrible, for all of you who won't get the joke.
edit 2: And I bet alot of you wouldn't get the joke, either. You would all be like "oh my god, that sucks, he should shutup!" and post all sorts of horrible things, just because you couldn't figure out that it was a joke! I mean jesus, would anybody sanely post a song this bad in seriousness? But someone would take it seriously, unless I put little disclamers like that, because apparently everything I post on KVR is meant to be taken 100% seriously, even when it's so obviously made in jest.
Seriously...

You know what? I don't joke about things like that...I wouldn't call anyone's music horrible.(whoa someone note this day hink doesn't joke about something)I do however raise an eyebrow when I see a disclaimer. I dont always just read the context of a post, but ponder the motivation. Fortunately we have one or two here that give me plenty of time to hone my sense....now off to listen....the_nihilist wrote:Bah.

and this proves Hammonds and Rhodes are cheesy how? Did yah play the bass on the hammond or rhodes?...I will accept your disclaimer...but wonder why you thought this would help...
Seems to me you need an Emerson/Lord cocktail (rocked not stirred)...now that the nice guy responded good luck....

Bass is an upright bass multisample... drums are LM-7 default with a minimum of tweaking... everything else is MrRay73 and a b3 soundfont.Hink wrote:You know what? I MADE THIS SONG BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET THE GODFORSAKEN SYSTEM SHOCK 1 ELEVATOR MUSIC OUT OF MY HEAD
But, this thread has inspired me to take a serious crack at making a song with a Rhodes and B-3, and to not make it sound "cheesy".

I actually don't seem to understand this "song" of yours too much. It's failing as a joke on me as well. The parts don't lock in with each other rhythmically but that would make every sound look cheesy. I just don't get it.
