I can work around this by loading 2 instances of Lush and loading the same preset and disabling some layers in each...pdxindy wrote:MFXxx wrote:+1Nighthawk77 wrote:
Very nice review!
Multi thread support is a MUST for this synth to function correctly.
Great potential not fully realized.
How many vsts actually use multithread - seems to be very much overlooked by the devs considering the way vsts are moving forward.
Not many do... and not many need to as many hosts are multicore capable... in this case, Lush is basically multiple instances of the synth in one... but where two instances on two tracks in the host uses multiple cores automatically, here the multiple instances are built into Lush so it becomes particularly important.
Some of the included presets in Lush are simply unusable for me and I have a 2.8ghz i7

Its a shame to have to "WORK AROUND" a synth just to use a reduced amount of its capabilities.pdxindy wrote:I can work around this by loading 2 instances of Lush and loading the same preset and disabling some layers in each...MFXxx wrote:+1Nighthawk77 wrote:

Many synths just don't need Multi thread capabilities, this one absolutely does.
On most systems, Lush can load 2-3 layers before maxing out. Its nice that it has such capabilities, it would be better if they were implemented in a way that worked.
I think many folks here are saying the same thing...."Nice synth, needs more work." (IE. Multi Thread Support)

Just what would you do with a real sh101?Nighthawk77 wrote:Its a shame to have to "WORK AROUND" a synth just to use a reduced amount of its capabilities.pdxindy wrote:I can work around this by loading 2 instances of Lush and loading the same preset and disabling some layers in each...MFXxx wrote:+1Nighthawk77 wrote:

Ofcourse a real sh101 is a fully fledged hardware synth, not a plugin.grabme wrote:Just what would you do with a real sh101?Nighthawk77 wrote:Its a shame to have to "WORK AROUND" a synth just to use a reduced amount of its capabilities.pdxindy wrote:I can work around this by loading 2 instances of Lush and loading the same preset and disabling some layers in each...MFXxx wrote:+1Nighthawk77 wrote:

So i guess my answer is, "whatever I want."
BUT to give Lush its due credit, it is capable of doing more and therefore demands more power.
I believe it will arrive as the devs develop it more.

Just checked this synth...
Nice sound, BUT...
BUT, BUT...
The envelopes ARE WEAK, because of that sound lack "balls"...
Envelopes very, VERY WEAK!
Only because of that - this synth goes in trash can... Just not usable...
Because of weak envelopes any sound lacks punch, especially basses...
And miserable abilities of modulation routing...
...And MONO supersaw osc... WTF?
This synth needs improvement, then i will buy it. But not in current condition.

No, it's an incredibly limited Monophonic synth whose time has come and gone......Nighthawk77 wrote:Ofcourse a real sh101 is a fully fledged hardware synth, not a plugin.

A fully fledged synth? You are joking, right?Nighthawk77 wrote: Ofcourse a real sh101 is a fully fledged hardware synth, not a plugin.

Don't post white bears if you have ear problems =)
If you don't know what an "Attack" and fast envelopes means (Real attack, not that ****), you better google it. It's advice for developers from D16 too.
It is great synth, but this thing just kills me...

Yes very limited instruments, as the D model Moog,ARP Odyssey or TB 303.Teksonik wrote:No, it's an incredibly limited Monophonic synth whose time has come and gone......Nighthawk77 wrote:Ofcourse a real sh101 is a fully fledged hardware synth, not a plugin.
Also incredibly limited are real trumpets, they cant do 18 notes chords like on your average VSTI, or acoustic Pianos ( you cant transform them into a pad by modifying the attack
MegaFacePalm
Some people here would like to impose their own choices of what is "usable" or not in music, and seem to not really understand what music is really about ... diversity, freedom, creativity ...
My Sh-101 is here to stay ......

I have the original hardware. LuSH-101 compares very well.SoulState wrote:Don't post white bears if you have ear problems =)Mutant wrote:

While I agree the default state of the envelops is not quite as punchy as the original hardware, if you check out the comparison I posted to SoundCloud you'll find it's pretty bloody close.
http://soundcloud.com/zenpunkhippy/d16- ... -vs-sh-101
Also with a bit more attention to programming - as pointed out by Himalaya earlier in the thread, by using the 2nd envelope the punch can be dialled in without too much trouble.
So next time, instead of posting some unfounded rant about the synth - try learning to program 'em first
Peace,
Andy.

thanks.
