I have the option to buy Synapse's The Legend RE for $24. Is worth it? I think Monotone is good enough for me for minimoog-like sounds, but rather I am asking, is it still supported? I have heard that Synapse have moved on to the Legend HZ and won't be updating or selling the regular version of the plugin. Will they keep the RE updated separately? If I buy it, will I get the plugin too?
So many questions and I have no clue - where to get the answer (aside from their support).

When you purchase the Legend RE at full price, you'll get the normal plugin license for free, but if you purchase it during a sale then you won't.
Having said that: the Legend imo is one of the best softsynths ever, so 24$ is kind of a no-brainer, I'd say, unless (like me) your main DAW is something else and using Reason as a plugin is out of the question for you (well, tbh I sometimes make an exception and the Legend is the reason for it).
I assume Reason HZ is even more amazing, but I have no experience with it at all (as I normally don't use soft-synths, so my interest is pretty negilible).

I bought the upgrade, although I find it was too highly priced. I like Reason especially, because it has very good instruments like algorithm, objekt etc. And The combinator, and also the players. I use it for creating sounds and just playing around. I will not finish any idea in Reason itself , but rather in a other DAW of my choice

I am going to comment on your statement directly by saying that Reason most definitely does not have the instruments you said it has.Artie Fichelle wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 4:44 am I bought the upgrade, although I find it was too highly priced. Someone reading what you wrote could think that having Reason or purchasing Reason 13 upgrade sounds as if you are getting those two instruments.
You don't.
Algorithm and Objekt (both pretty awesome and worth on their own) need to be purchased separately in any upgrade tier as far as I know.
So basically it is not clear what you wrote. You statement says:
- the upgrade is overpriced (or too highly priced), but you purchased it anyway.
- both instruments you referred to as a part of buying or justifying Reason upgrade aren't related to the upgrade in any way - they are separate purchases
- lastly, you even said you finish your songs in another DAW basically referring to the fact that you use another DAW to make songs.
So by your admission, it is completely unclear what you did. No wonder they can get a pass with idiotic prices if their user base thinks like you think.
Seems to me that you either love Reason developers enough to give them money even though you think the price is insanely high or you simply have enough money to worry about which is fine but you are an anomaly then. The third option is that you are just a bot or something some desperate move to bring positivity in the negativity you made solely yourself.

You are right, so I guess I have spare money.
Since I have also Reaper, Studio one, Bitwig, Ableton, Ardour and Cubase, I can choose. My stuff is not very complicated, so I need not many tracks. To finish I like Studio One.
And most important, I just like to play the keyboards and to design sounds. I do not live by music, I live for music.

Can we have something closer to this in Reason 14?
Coloured lists and waveform previews would be pretty cool.

Nahhhhh nice try. You are just a consumer. People can "live for music" even without owning 6 DAWs. Though one is more than enough. And last time when I checked a person can be so good at one thing by knowing - one thing. Well unless you are a Batman. That is.Artie Fichelle wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 6:51 am You are right, so I guess I have spare money.

But I respect your friendly response and certainly, I would be a hypocrite to say that I wouldn't enjoy having so much money to throw at so much stuff without worrying. So enjoy and all the best.

Hang on a minute - now it's considered wrong to use several DAWs, or what?
On my main machine I have the following installed (always the highest tier and usually the latest version): Reason, Reaper, Studio One, Tracktion, Nuendo, Bitwig, Sonar, Samplitude (listed in no particular order) - plus some other stuff like Vegas (Acid I deleted the other day as frankly I have zero use for it)

Oh boy....the waveform "skip through" preview. What a very long requested and extremely important feature for any commercial DAW these days.wayford wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 2:15 pm Can we have something closer to this in Reason 14?

You will not see this the upcoming years, I guess.
The browser recently got an fresh update, you know? So they need now some months to add removed functionality and to fix bugs....

Ohhh OK, so if Logic has this feature, then for shure Reason 13 doesn't need it (because other DAWs have it...).Just switch your main DAW, enjoy a fresh community with Logics userbase and use the Reason plugin from time to time if you need a special synth or delay!
What would that be for a terrible management if Reason 13 would implement such great features like a basic visual audio preview in their brand new browser! No, you can't do stuff like this as managers in a music software company.
You should better switch the DAW and use the plugin, thats better for their business and for you I guess. Have a look at the website of Reason Studios. A lot of other DAWs promoted there that could be a good fit for you.
---
So dear people, I'm done here and there's no point in continuing to be critical about Reason's mismanagement. I wish everyone a good musical journey, a critical mindset, good health and lots of joy in life.
Goodbye
