You might also report that the Osc 1 noise knob when getting up to the 3/4 positive direction (or so) can just drop out. Moving the knob can make the sound come back. I did not check the consistency of this cause it is too time consuming with the 10 minute demo limit and no init patch... but there is definitely some bugginess there... the only question is how re-produceable it is.MaxSynths wrote:Mmmm maybe it's a bug or a different combination of keys is required on Mac (?)pdxindy wrote:The parameter reset is not working consistently on the Mac
EDIT:
I'll send the report to Bastiaan.I think the parameter reset works with control as long as you click close to zero area...

Not sure if you noticed that already but there is the part of the manual about the F/A Noise knob:pdxindy wrote:

"F/A Noise - The F/A Noise knob controls the amount of noise generated by either Frequency modulation (FM)or Amplitude Modulation (AM)
The default setting for this knob is zero, turning the knob clockwise will increase the amount of Amplitude Modulation applied whereas turning it counter clockwise will apply and increase the amount of Frequency Modulation."
The tone of the noise also changes with the waveform you have used in the oscillator section. The "PW" and the "Tone" knob have an influence on the noise sound too.
As i already mentioned in my last post above the PW knob could morph the waveform for any of the available waveforms. This could be found in the manual which should be in the installation folder.
With the combination of waveform morph (available for all waveforms), Ringmod, FM etc. and modulation of all those parameters some really interesting results should be possible. The OSC section of Saurus seems to be on of the most interesting and flexible ones in comparison to other VAs.

The GUI is the same as envelopes, lofi.braj wrote:Kinda ironic since that is the first thing we were given regarding Saurusmcnoone wrote:I really don't even think there is any comparison, so no need.Igro wrote:Well Diva vs SaurusYea I noticed that too. Hi,
here is another demo of a preset i just created with Saurus (no comparisons this time...). The preset is a bit "PPG like" and uses a waveform morph (modulation of the PW parameter) of OSC1+2 with LFO1. No FM and/or Ringmod is involved in this.
The track uses a single instance of Saurus and no external FXs were used:

This is inspired by a factory sound from BigTone called "4 PPG keys BT" and of course by my own sounds for the PPG 3.V, Blofeld and Largo.

Simply click on the corresponding LED. No need to cycle through all options using the button. (Same with oscillator wave selection).pdxindy wrote:
I don't care for the GUI... Having to click 3 times to switch between 12 and 24db lowpass filter types is ridiculous.

TONE2 SAURUS GETS MY FAMOUS SUPERSAW STAMP OF APPROVAL!!!
I've not really explored the other Tone2 products (except Gladiator), but I think this is probably the first product Tone2 released that deserves it.

Saurus is fantastic. Really great work, expected it to cost more, was pleased to see it under $150.

How about replicating some Diva basses? In particular, any of the following:

Here's that HS bass Nine preset. You hear both synths.

Can't do any more at the moment as the kids are screaming and want to go to the park.
The difference is that the DIVA clip (the second one i could tell immediately), has that extra body that you don't often find in soft synths. The DIVA clip sounds sounds like hardware, the Saurus clip sounds like a very good VA soft synth.
What do you think of the following clip? It's in mono. Your (and anyone else's) honest opinion:

Same here. After finally starting to read the manual (could be found in the installation folder) i realized how cool and versatile the oscillator section of Saurus is. See my demo at this page of the thread for an example.cain wrote:really loving saurus
I guess i have to rethink my current projects/sounds i'm working on. I guess that Saurus could move to the top of the list besides Synthmaster for which i already finished more than half of a bank. I have started doing some presets for Largo which have to wait a bit now...

I am demo'ing with the stand-alone app, seems less annoying for some reason. I really like the arp, and though I don't know how analog it sounds, it sounds really nice. I liked ElectraX but it is out of my price range, maybe I'll pick Saurus up when on sale/used. I don't 'need' it but it is pretty cool. Just Tone2 please please please re-examine your demo policies, there as much better ways to go about it.
