Cool. I've been seriously eying up Shimmer by the way. Are you going to add any algorithms to that to give it some variation? (And a mix lock...)

Unfortunately, I can't add algorithms to ValhallaShimmer without breaking stuff. ValhallaRoom was designed with the ability to add a few extra reverb modes - I hadn't figured that out with Shimmer.

Plus, I feel that the ValhallaShimmer modes are pretty complete. There's not a lot of places that new modes could go. At least as far as new modes I could think up.
(And a mix lock...)
When I do update ValhallaShimmer, I'll add that, as well as the preset manager. This may not be for a while, though - I've got a full plate with ÜberMod and the bug fix release for VRoom. The only reason I'd add a new reverb mode to VRoom is that the effort needed in writing a new mode is actually fairly small, compared to the time needed to build and test all bug fixes, build installers, and send the update out to all customers.

Just so the ValhallaRoom reverb mode option list is on this page of the thread, here it is again:

- A variant of Narcissus, but with a bit less echo density, and less random modulation in the decay (more of a detuning modulation).
- A variant of Narcissus, with a bit more echo density, and a slower attack.
- A "Small Chamber." Similar to Dark Chamber, but reduced in complexity.
- A "Small Room." Similar to Large Room / Dark Space, but reduced in complexity.

UberModDemo: Yeah! Totally my style! Great demo.

VRoom: Narcissus with more density and slower attack, please.

And a vote for: A variant of Narcissus, with a bit more echo density, and a slower attack.

You didn't say we couldn't vote early and often.

Another Vote for: A variant of Narcissus, but with a bit less echo density, and less random modulation in the decay (more of a detuning modulation).

And yet another vote for: A variant of Narcissus, with a bit more echo density, and a slower attack.

Please keep the new mode [blank]. By using a [blank] mode it gives the impression of something new, pristine and never before reverberated. That's irresistible to us inveterate verb manglers.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

So, most of the people here have voted for the Narcissus variants. Over at Gearslutz, the votes are half in favor of slower/denser Narcissus, half for the small room/chamber.

I'm torn right now. On the one hand, the plugin IS called "ValhallaRoom," so a small room would make more sense in that context. On the other hand, I have a great name for a Narcissus variant. :D

Decisions, decisions...

I think you should change the name to ValhallaSpace.
I'll vote slower denser Narcissus btw.

So implement both :D
Play it by ear

I'd be surprised if whatever mode you'll add would make me want to use VRoom less. The opposite is expected here.

For me, ValhallaSpace would have needed to be REALLY spacey to earn the name. At this point, having the room emulators (physical spaces) and the more digital algorithms (outer space) would certainly qualify for the Space label. But it is too late to change the name.

The original goal of VRoom was to be a room emulator, a la Quantec. The Medium Room algorithm was most influenced by my understanding of the Quantec algorithm, but with some modifications to make my version sound better. Honestly, the Medium Room algorithm is by far my least favorite of all the VRoom algorithms, so I don't think that I succeeded in getting very Quantecish with that reverb mode. But the Large Room and Large Chamber do a nice job in getting more realistic room emulations.

The only problem with that: I have 3 reverb slots left in VRoom as of 1.0.8. After these are filled, I can't add additional modes. So I need to proceed with care. I'd hate to fill the spots, and then come up with some other awesome algorithm that would have been perfect for VRoom.

At some point, I'm going to need to develop another plugin "container" for the reverbs that don't fit into the ValhallaRoom paradigm. The new container will probably focus on more vintage design styles, and embrace some of the artifacts ValhallaRoom was designed to avoid.

I love you.

No, I'm already married, too.

I vote for:
small room/chamber

Agreed. Small Room/chamber would be better suited for this plug.

+1 - there is enough vast spacious spaceness space in VRoom already imo :)

But I can't have enough vast spacious spaceness  :hihi:
