Same here. After finally starting to read the manual (could be found in the installation folder) i realized how cool and versatile the oscillator section of Saurus is. See my demo at this page of the thread for an example.

I guess i have to rethink my current projects/sounds i'm working on. I guess that Saurus could move to the top of the list besides Synthmaster for which i already finished more than half of a bank. I have started doing some presets for Largo which have to wait a bit now...

As much as I love Diva, Saurus is definitely positioned for easier reach with the Diva CPU hit. Granted, Diva isn't about CPU conservation, my computer is 4 or so years old :)

Saurus, DUNE, and kiloHeartz ONE are my new favorites. I can see myself using Saurus everywhere.

I really love Predator and other synths too, but sometimes I need a less bloated, immediate to program synth, and ONE and Saurus fit this need exactly. Firebird is a bit too limited (not to mention a different synthesis type), but Saurus is a nearly perfect mix of what I like to use without all the bloat.

I think this is a great synth for tone2's line up and a sweet spot for price against the saturated market.

Can we anticipate a big brother to Saurus like we had with Firebird and Gladiator sharing a very similar feature set?

I'm not saying I'm asking for more, nor am I looking for it per my quote above re: less bloat, just asking out of curiosity. :)

Well done tone2, as usual.

The keys graphics are a little lofi, though. JPEG compression artifacts? :) I know what you were going for and you nailed it elsewhere, but the keys could use a little dust-busting :)

I've not really explored the other Tone2 products (except Gladiator), but I think this is probably the first product Tone2 released that deserves it.

Hi,

i guess this is what you are talking about:

A demo of a new preset i just created with Saurus. This is a single instance with no external FXs added.

Saurus seems to be the most inspiring synth since a long time (last one of this kind was Diva). If the amount of ideas i got for this go on like in the the last 2 days i will have a soundbank in a not too long time.

Really nice Ingo!

I've managed to elude this thread (or is it threat) for the past few weeks, but this afternoon and after receiving the email from Tone2 I caved in and wanted to find out more. Hm, I SO do not need or want another synth but after hearing some of the demos I'm 'this' close to pulling the trigger. Just downloaded the demo and am about to fire it up... although that in itself is probably a big mistake. :)

Oh... and Ingo and Rapahel, you two haven't helped matters!

Architeuthis' official Supersaw Stamp of Approval(TM) was the last straw!!!
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

First part Saurus, second part Model D?

There's only one part, one synth.

The two halves sound different. The first has a more pronounced chirping noise in the attack - has it been compressed?

No processing of any kind. There is a slow detuning going on with longish release, perhaps that's what's causing the build up? I don't know.

Great Saurus patch demos :) (I like that brass)

I like the synths which slowly reveal their power and Saurus is that kind of synth. I instantly liked it when I saw it first in beta / sound design state. And while I didnt have as much spare time as I wanted, programming some presets was entertaining. I like the synth which somehow invites me to use it, I dont like to feel overwhelmed when I see the synth. I like to slowly explore it , reach it's boundaries and push them further. What I mean is - Saurus GUI looks clean, looks like a simple synth but deep inside there are plenty things to do. I remember that during sound design phase I didnt even explore some new, extra modulation possibilities, because even the basic stuff gave a lot of sonic possibilities. Definitely Saurus has potential. It's reasonably priced, sound quality is OK :) and cpu consumption is very ok which makes this synth perfect workhorse :)

ps. and I generally like tone2 "style" - I like Gladiator (love creating pads there), ElectraX overwhelms me a little bit (actually I'd prefer it more if it had ... one layer ;d ) but still is a beast (which i didnt explore properly as well as Dune, Synthmaster, Massive  ) and Saurus - well I just said that I like it :hihi:

Haven't demo'd myself yet but judging purely from the demo sounds, I can't hear nothing analog whatsoever. The filters are a dead giveaway.
It doesn't mean it's a bad synth overall, just wrongly labelled. Just my 2c.

Okay, well I'm not sure what response you're after. It's a more-or-less generic moog type bass. Nothing wrong with that - in fact it sounds like a perfectly acceptable example of its kind. But it could be any of a number of VA's. It may even be a real Model D. Is there anything in particular we should be paying attention to?

Not really. I'm after opinion on how this sounds compared to that first Saurus example (where it's pitted against the Diva preset).

By the way. Don't look at the shape of the waveform in your host, just listen to the clip.

They sound different - the envelope settings in particular - you know your stuff, and I'm sure you could've matched them more closely if you'd wanted to, which leaves me at a loss as to what to make of it.

Is it a Model D?
