Ableton has by default their software scaling for plugins enabled which can indeed make scaled plugins appear very blurry...

When you search for Serum 2 in the browser and you rightclick the entry, do you see any "Auto-scale plugin window" entry there (directly on the top of the rightclick menu)??

.
If it´s there and checked, try to uncheck it and drag a fresh instance of Serum 2 into the Arrangement... is it still blurry?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

No, i think that´s a Windows only option. On Mac that entry is not there.

Version 2.1.4 is out.
BTW, is there a place where one can read a change log for latest releases?
I'm paying for it via Splice.

The release notes are found in "your account"->downloads. You need to log in through your Splice account credentials
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

In the Xfer account, I do not find the change log at Downloads at all.
Where is that visible?

Here:

You can find a "Release notes" -> View button near the download link.

But, it only seems to cover the latest version... :(

Can Xfer Records modify Serum 2 so that it can utilize the GPU to considerably reduce the load on the CPU when creating sounds?

Post

Let me answer that one for them: no

Why? Could you please elaborate on this?

Post

Communication with GPU is usually high latency, and with few guarantees about that latency. It would be hard to guarantee hitting a deadline like filling an audio buffer at even 512 sample latency. And, the way to use 3D or GPU compute APIs and shaders is basically OS * vendor, so you end up having to write the code multiple times and maintain multiple copies of it for each variation. And lastly, most audio processing stuff that isn't FFT-based or large-batch resampling usually have reference algorithm designs that don't map well to GPUs, anyway.

Post

Could a GPU potentially excel at generating the later stages of a sound—such as the reverb tail—as well as predicting which note might be played next and pre-rendering it in advance? For instance, could the GPU's parallel processing capabilities be used to "play" a multitude of notes ahead of time, from which only a specific subset would ultimately be selected?

The Anukari synth author has a 3 part blog series on why they went back to the CPU from GPU rendering if anyone wants to dive deep into the technical issues surrounding GPU audio rendering.

Anybody know if it is possible to downgrade a preset made in a newer version of serum 2 to an earlier version? :D
