I actually wonder, how you can set Avenger to grain mode? if i drag sample it becomes a sampler.
The only way (wich is cumbersome) to make audio samples work in granular mode only if i go via osc section and granular, then select a sample from selection and then drag an audio sample from my library.

First you create granular sources by importing/converting samples from your own library, then you select those sources and start tweaking, so it works differently than in other granular synths.Elektronisch wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:42 am I actually wonder, how you can set Avenger to grain mode? if i drag sample it becomes a sampler.

Hi thanks.fab_thefab wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:15 amDo you have Acronis True Image service? The anti-ransom resident? If yes. Then add Cubase or the whole Cubase folder to be on the safe side , to the "exclusion list"...Worked for me as this crashes Cubase 10 when you load Avenger or slow it down considerably (like 5 minutes loading)zvenx wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:59 pm Bought it earlier today, it has crashed at least four times already in Cubase 10, 10.14.5.
Have sent crash logs to support.
Anyone else having crashing issues with 1.4.10?

This is on the mac.... I don't have Acronis True Image on my mac.

better: go to the OSC browser, double click on "granular", which creates an empty granular module. There you can drag drop samples

Is there a way to lock the arp, when changing presets?
The goal here is, when you' ve made a nice arp, to try a few different sounds to see what sound matches best with your arp.
Like, when you have selected a bass sound, you made an arp1 which you are content with, but you 'd like to go through a few bass sounds to see what bass sound would work best with the current arp1.
(So pretty much the same thing as with the drum sequence, where you want to keep the drum sequence but change the drum kit ).
There is a lock symbol on the arp, but that doesn't seem to lock the arp in the way described above.
( Off course, the multi timbral character of Avenger makes this somewhat more complex, as you can have several sounds and several arps , but I guess the most straight forward procedure would be to NOT change the arps that are locked, when changing presets. And arps that are not locked, you'd change them when the new preset you are loading has a sequence in that arp. )

impossible due to the fact you already mentioned, each patch can be routed differently. You can lock ARP4 but the next preset does not use an ARP4, or you can lock a bassline in ARP1 but in the next presets ARP1 controls a closed hihat. Or its even possible, that you locked ARP2 and in the next preset ARP2 would have been a pure modulation source and not meant to play any melody, and without this modulation the whole preset doesnt sound right.... There are tons more scenarios, but I think you get the point. Locking an ARP makes no sense and would lead to problems. Locking ARPs is possible in quite simple synths, where you have 1 global arp and no routing possibilities. With its independend and open routing, Avenger is too flexible for that function to work. Better record your ARP in your DAWs piano roll with the ARP record feature (there is a video how this works)

Ok, thank you for your quick response Manuel.

You can save an arp preset outside the arp category subfolders right? If you needed to cycle through presets quickly with the same arp you could just do that to minimize menu digging, then delete the duplicate preset once you've found the sound you like.

That is an option. But I find using your daw piano roll is a more immediate and responsive way to cycle through sounds. With your solution (thanks for thinking with me) you still have to change the arp every time and in some cases activate the arp in the routing section, so it's not an immediate thing, more like a delayed experience if you get what I mean.Razzia wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2019 11:55 am You can save an arp preset outside the arp category subfolders right? What would be a nice thing is that we could save and recall something like an instrument (= osc section including all the dependent aspects in the routing + mod matrix). We can save all kinds of things (which is great) but there is no concept of an instrument. Hmm, would this be possible?

I've thought about things like this before too. It would certainly be convenient, but who knows if it could actually be done.Stefken wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2019 12:26 pm

Like Manuel pointed out, Avenger's semi modular structure and general routing flexibility kind of prevents uniformity between the presets. So the things that would set an "Instrument" apart from just changing waveforms/tables are likely the same things that make it impractical if not impossible. x instrument needs an LFO for the FM parameter, but y setup is already using all 4 of them, and so on.

Yes, it certainly is not an easy thing.
I'm just discovering Avenger.
I find the multi-timbral aspect to be very convenient when using a preset as a whole but I'm looking for a strategy when you want to change instruments. Say you have a few instruments in 1 multi timbral preset going: bass, drums, and pads. You like the sequences, but you'd like to change the padsound. How do you do that?
You duplicate tracks in your daw and then start muting parts in the preset?
You could keep one track bass + drums and mute the pad sound. Then use your duplicate track as a pad track.
But then on your pad track, you'd like to change the pad sound but want to keep the arp. How do you do that? Record the arp in your daw piano roll and then cycle through pad sounds?
It seems the moment you want to change a multi-timbral preset, you have to start cutting everything up in pieces?

thanks
