"We are, however, monitoring the shitstorm on KVR Audio to see if there is interest for a PC version." :D

Post

"We are, however, monitoring if there is interest for a PC version" Have you asked the interest of MAC users? Maybe they have less interest than those of PC. Well, they have lost my purchase.

"...we will guage demand for a PC version." That seems easy to do. Look at your registered customer database and their purchase and download history. I clearly have only purchased and downloaded PC software, so that's one vote for a PC version right there. For now, the answer to the question sent in the previous email - "What are you doing on Tuesday afternoon?" is: basking in the cold light of disappointment...

well that was close. I almost blind bought it without seeing it is Mac only. Odd choice. They must know their customer base sales. However, based on first hand info elsewhere it is typically at least 60/40 PC at a minimum.

I submitted an email "there is interest"
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Unbelievable decision on not offering a PC version.

So if there is one eventually, do PC users get an another 'introductory offer' + voucher we can actually take advantage of?

Post

For us mac users who have the demo, with the delay disabled, does it not feel like it has some kind of built in reverb?
Or am I just hearing things.

I wondered the same.

Honestly, I'm surprised that a company truly believes they can survive in this audio software industry by only releasing a Mac version in the year 2021.

Or maybe it's already in the works, just not done yet, so they can feed the hype machine...

It's not even in the works, I got confirmation they didn't use JUCE, so it's probably all done entirely in Xcode with Mac-only APIs...

When the blurb says "they're gauging interest in Windows version" it means nothing was done on cross-platform side of things and they're basically scrambling to see their how many sales they will lose. :D

I think they know very well there's interest in a PC version, just for whatever reason, decisions were made early on that took them down a path that brought them to a Mac only release. For whatever reason. And the fact that they were looking for a developer with JUCE experience before this was released points to them knowing very well they have to get off whatever platform they're currently using for development to get a PC version out there.

It does seem like a disaster of a launch if I'm being honest. For a single platform product, the pricing seems way off. Also, there was no notice this would be Mac only. Would've been great information to include in the "we're close to a new product" emails. Just add a "...it will be Mac only for now because..." sentence. Regardless of how they got to a Mac only release, this could've been handled much better is all I'm saying.

I can't even name more then a couple of Mac only products, like Logic and Camel Audio comes to mind.

Did Ohmforce do the coding? I know Gforce usually get a contractor to do the coding. Porting plugins to Windows should be pretty straightforward if you do it all the time.

They worked with a very young developer called Hugo, who seems to be a Mac die-hard and apparently not well versed in cross-platform things. See that other video they just released "This is how we work".

There's less piracy on the Mac side. So maybe they want to make their initial investment back before committing to the PC port.
