Some investors do care about those things if they're in it for the long haul.

I'll maintain that this is the bigger likelihood in this circumstance.
Only time will tell I guess! I'm not rooting for them to fail, so I hope you're right!

People just dont like change. I think long time NI product users will have a hard time adjusting to the idea of subscribing to their SaaS offering(s). Its one thing if you are a new customer into the ecosystem and you got on board right off the bat as a subscriber. its another if you are legacy and are forced to change. NI are not Spotify or Netflix.
Has there been an actual statement that NI are going subscription ?

Or is it just a rumour ?

Chinese whispers.

Me too. It’s almost as if many people here are willing NI to fail or to reduce the quality of their products.
Or perhaps hoping to buy NI hardware and software at knock down prices ?
Possibly, but it’s been negative in many different ways.

well it clearly has got NI a lot of attention

Of course not. But PA have subscriptions. And PA are evil. And since NI are now evil, they will have subscriptions. Because PA. And being evil.

How much more obvious can it be, FFS? :bang:

Three months is nothing compared to the time it takes to fully master a DAW. I doubt most people who had been using Sonar for 5-10 years would have made such a snap decision.
I've been using Cakewalk since Pro Audio 9 and I've used Sonar since it's inception, when the people from Cakewalk showed me the new product when it was first released at the NAMM show

Is that long enough for you ?

I didn't make the decision to change DAWs lightly, but when Gibson appeared on the scene,it was a warning sign for me...

These days I use Cakewalk mainly to access older projects, but I still use it for certain tasks from time to time...

It's a good DAW,but I find it rather clunky compared to Reaper or Studio One 4
This is exactly what I said. That I don't think long term Sonar users would make snap decisions.

NI have never commented on other forums as far as I'm aware. The closest you will get to that are people who are associated or work with them like Evil Dragon.

Rather than arrogance it could be that they don’t want to communicate during a period of transition as it could result in having to later correct or retract statements. It’s pretty much what happens in all companies when there’s a significant shakeup.
