As a Bitwig user, CLAP is one of the more exciting features to come along. I keep finding new ways to use Bitwig's modulation system and the u-he synth betas currently available in ways that are not possible with VST versions. CLAP is especially great for MPE sound design! :tu:

Wow awsome! Cant wait! :tu:

Maybe need to get the CLAP SDK asap to play a bit with it.

Wondering what are the limitation of the JUCE CLAP integration? Somebody has explored that or is this known already?!

Post

Surge XT, ChowDSP and AudioThing plugins all use the unofficial CLAP wrappers for JUCE. I think TAL as well. Surge and TAL J-8 both also employ polyphonic modulation.

Hi Urs,

will this wrapper be made publicly available?
But of course! It currently lives in a private repository, but I think it's planned to move it to the CLAP repositories. I also overheard talk that it's nearly finished and that CLAP-as-AU is next.

(Gotta watch your new vid today!)

Thanks :-)

Maybe you could add my playlist to the CLAP homepage as well? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... xRIw0s5XLS

I mean I’ve explored it :)

So if you just use the simple out of the box 3-lines in your cmake and you get a clap juce extensions, the clap that results is similar to the vst3 vst2 au etc… (it’s actually better than the vst3 in one regard as I recently discovered and missing a couple of things which haven’t hurt us)

The power comes with the extensions which let you get at the entire clap api and are really powerful. But those extensions do have some risks - mostly that if the juce team ever did offer clap support they wouldn’t be part of the official kit. You can read that in the readme.

Finally we are happy to take ideas and changes and so on to expand the api. Just drop an issue on our GitHub!

Does the J-8 polymod actually work for you? For me in Bitwig it's changing the UI slider. Doesn't happen with Diva.

Post

Hmmm yeah something's not quite right there...

It is definitely not Polymod. Tried on Filter Cutoff and Cross-modulation. Neither responded to poly on an LFO or Envelope.

Post

TAL-J-8 only supports MPE note pitch, which also works in their VST version. There are no CLAP poly-mod features, and even via MPE, per-note expression is not possible.

Post

It occurs to me that Bitwig still has some ways to go to fully support CLAP poly-mod. Currently you are limited to two poly-mod automation curves (timber and pressure). These should be arbitrary, and not named after the MPE note expressions.
