I was playing with the bass presets yesterday and there's one preset, "Bass Thick 1", that I think sounds brilliant. It sounds very different from ampeg and I guess it's down to taste, but I think Amp 3 sounds better even than ampeg.redshift factor wrote:Really? Initial impression noted, but still, that Trace Elliot should jump out immediately as at least as good as any of the Ampegs (and I LOVE the Ampegs!). But the the Trace Elliot has amazing presence and the ability to get a very pleasant growl that sits well in the mix at the same time.blueman wrote:The new bass amps didn't impress me as much as I had hoped. They sound good but they don't keep up with the quality I hear in the Ampegs. Well, just my initial impression.
The TE is one of the highlights for me, along with the JC-120, copper face AC30, great new tone to all our old familiar amps, 3D free mic placement, those Electro-Harmonix stomps, the new Neumann mic, the Slicer pedal, Swell.... ok, there's just too many highlights to name!

thank you! That bouncing ball and Rezo methodology is brilliant!Kingtal wrote:Congrats to the boys and girls at IK Multimedia...I've only had an hour or so to play around with AT3, in between keeping children amused and doing chores, but even through my ordinary Rotel hi-fi amp in the loungeroom AT3 sounds AMAZING! The Rezo pedal is amazing - my 4 yr and I were making music with him bouncing a foam ball off the guitar strings while I played the chords.
There is literally thousands and thousands of hours of fun in this software making the most of the amp and pedal combinations. Have to keep reminding myself to keep the music as the focus and not the gadgets - but that said I know what I will be doing for the next couple of weeks in the small hours.
Once again, full marks to all at IK Multimedia - its f#$k*n awesome..

Has anyone managed to get automation working with any sort of foot controller? I've got a Ground Control Pro, and AT3 standalone indicates it is receiving midi, but none of the learn functions are working for me.

(Edit) I was able to email IK tech support on their website and have my ticket#.
Everything was perfect yesterday - downloaded the demo and it was heaven. I received my serial number last night and authorized this morning - easy until...
I launched Sonar8 and inserted A3 and the GUI wouldn't show up (so unlike yesterday). Sonar remains completely functional for awhile but A3 being loaded (and not working) is definitely the problem when it does eventually crash.
The standalone version loads up fine but is asking me to authorize it separately - and it simply will not recognize my audio settings in demo mode. I didn't try the standalone version yesterday.
I'm wondering if the authorization has loaded a .dll file that Sonar is not accepting.
So I'm going to uninsatll/reinstall in hopes I can at least use the demo while this gets sorted out.
Anybody have this kind of trouble?

I auditioned all the amps in a clean project, and have to admit that this update is HUGE! There is so much to tweak, but even the raw untweaked sound is so much better (and, dare I say it, than GR4)
Congratulations, IK. You did good, guys!

It helps though now that there is an on/off switch on the tuner icon front page. Not what you are saying though, I just checked and it defaults to the off position even if you save the preset.blueman wrote: PS I haven't checked this yet... I hope they fixed it so that when I save a preset with the tuner ON, it keeps it. How frustrating to open a preset and have to keep going back to re-engage the tuner.

I D/L'ed the demo... got my serial number via email... installed... made sure that the .dll was saved to my x86 VST folder... Started SONAR, rescanned my VST folders.... loaded up a project, inserted AT3 on a track... IK authorization started up (it was hidden behind the SONAR window so I needed to minimize SONAR to access the IK authorization.... good thing I have done this a few times because I knew that when I inserted AT3 for the first time, IK would want to authorize).... ran the authorization process... and VIOLA... AT3 loaded on the track and I started playing around and it has been working with no issues at all...
I am using 8.5.3 version of SONAR.
