I'm reserving final judgement until I hear how it sounds. IK has a lot of ground to make up and developers like UVI and NI (and many others) are killing it right now sound wise. We'll see or hear soon enough I guess. Again, if I was IK I would have put at least a demo snippet in the promo video. But again its IK.

Ok now I really want ST3.....but as been said before it's going to come down to the upgrade price.........HM wrote:I had expected much better:

The way I see it, What they are showing and playing at NAMM is not even a REAL product yet. If the IK reps are quoting March to April release dates then it probably won't happen before 3rd qtr 2014.
At this point I could care less as I am over the hype and excuses. Ik made their bed now they can lie in it. (lie?)

I guess this shows my own bias but I think that nobody has yet got a Korg Triton/Karma type workstation right in software. Not just sounds but functions, editability and feel. This is the area where I think ST3 has missed the mark.paterpeter wrote: Yet I have the feeling it's a missed opportunity to really advance ST as an instrument.

The whole soundtrack is SampleTank 3. We'll have to point that out since it isn't obvious.Chrisma wrote:Again, if I was IK I would have put at least a demo snippet in the promo video. But again its IK.![]()

I wondered that after I posted. Will definitely go back and listen closely. Thanks for the info!

As a guitarist/bassist, I don't need Sampletank 3...but I do need some way to use my SampleTron, Sonik Synth, and SampleMoog in Logic X. I love IKM stuff and I've got tons of it (Amplitube, all the SampleTank stuff, T-Racks) and was thinking about some of their hardware like the iLoud. But...I'm not dropping several hundred dollars to be able to use software I purchased only a few years ago.
I'm definitely not one of the IKM haters, but I am sure disappointed. Please at least give us a free version to run our old stuff on.

I am starting to think their upgrade prices are going to be much higher than the $49 / $99 upgrade prices I initially thought they were going to provide (which was already too much in my opinion, and for what so far seems to be an extremely lack-luster product).
More detrimental than that, their business model seems very short-sighted. They chose short-term financial gain with all the blow-out sales combined with false info and "changed" promises etc. over customer happiness and retention.
If you click on just about any IK thread here or at GS there are many people complaining, venting and vowing to never buy any IK products in the future. It is terrible publicity and turns off a lot of new potential customers. Can't say they don't deserve it though. If you treat people that way, a percentage are going to make themselves heard.
If they would just release a 64 bit free player (even with no effects etc.) it would make a world of difference to the masses, but they can't seem to understand that.

I'm sure they are aware of the all the issues and considered some would think lack-luster while others will be WOWED!
Their business model is theirs, right or wrong, and who am I to say how they should run their business?
Although, I have to agree with your points donato - I too think they have done some irreparable damage and have accumulated a lot of negative publicity.
But, like I said, it's their business.
Happy Musiking!

Just to be fair, it's really not 'many', as much as the same pack traveling from thread to thread never moving on from a product they say they will never deal with again.donato wrote: If you click on just about any IK thread here or at GS there are many people complaining, venting and vowing to never buy any IK products in the future. Once you catch the irony, and filter the few valid points out of their litanies, it actually gets more than a few to identify them negatively and may have helped the group buy purchases in IK's favor. Sometimes I wonder if IK has a couple of sub-divisions of their sales staff. Team one is hype and team two is troll. And they have a great laugh at us during their breaks together...
Personally, the screenshots look great to me so far. And I realize with sales and promotions I may be stuck with redundant sets and by the time I get through the upgrade, may end up paying as much as the oldtimers complaining about paying to be the first on the block to have it.
Another irony, while so 'many' complain about the lack of 64b on the instruments, (which work great on my 64b system), the effects and amplitube3 in 64b that so 'many' rave about on their systems, has been nothing but problems so far. After two days of trying to get these 21 fx and A3 to load up right and show as 64b, I've only got seven (& 4 CSR) of them to show and work. Amplitube3 crashes everytime.
But ST3 looks good to me and my only skepticism is toward an actual announcement of a real release date.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm just trying to not get emotionally invested in either side.hibidy wrote:I fear this is correct to some degree!rtucker55 wrote:I'll go out on a line here with some predictions:

We'll see what we'll see when we see it.
But after seeing the screen shots and video, it does seem to at least be going in the right direction...
