Realistic Bagpipes

Hi guys,
I'm looking for realistic (Uilean and Highland) bagpipe samples.
I already listened to demos of East West Colossus (seems very real but rather expensive), Bigfish Celtic Instruments (seems OK) and Ilio World Winds (seems to sound more like a fiddle).
Does anyone have experience with the sounds of these libraries or know if there are others available ? Also, what's the best technique to make it sound real when playing a keyboard (eg. wobbling the pitch at the beginning of a note) ?
Thanks,
Peter.

You might give EMM Knagalis a go:

These are good:
http://www.vrsound.com/bp_Bagpipes.html
Also www.sf2midi.com has a soundfont called celtix2004 that has a very realistic bagpipe, but it's limited to the actual range of the pipes.

EMM Knagalis; the demo is nearly completly functional (part of the presets function but you can't save them, no problem though because the sounds are supperb) ! (also great sitars etc.)
Carpo diem ergo sum !

Hello,
looking too for a Uilleann Pipe, I ordered and got a couple of days ago "World Winds" from Ilio.
I was first disapointed because of the fact that the straight notes sound each very different.
Some samples have a heavy vibrato, some have not.
Also the timbre of some sample can change within the note self.
But I believe it has to do with this very particular instrument and the way one play it.
And finally this changing timbre within a note is a caracteristic of the Uilleann.
After experimenting a bit I found out that it is possible to produce a sound that really has the authentic sound of a Uilleann Pipe.
But it might afford more work than say with a Tin Whistle.
One would have to carefully choose the bended notes, where to use vibrato, what kind of grace notes and so on and so on.
(I even consider to find new loops for some samples in order to have the possibility to play some notes without vibrato)
Sure it still will not sound like Davy Spillane
But you can hear it is a Uilleann Pipe
FYI there are three Uilleann Pipes: B flat, C and D.
Each instrument has 15 samples in several variations (each variation has 15 samples):
. Straight
. Bend (each note slowly bended from the lower one)
. Grace 1
. Grace 2
There are also a few samples named "short"
And there is one drone sample for each Instrument.
This said, I cannot compare with the other Uilleann Pipes samples collection you mention as I dont have them.
I found the "Scots Highland Pipes" from World Wind not so good(very few samples)
I would also go for EMM Knagalis.
Hope this helps
Regards

I have also bought and used the Wizoo bagpipe. It is VERY cheap, and sounds pretty good. Every note sounds different, but not in a bad way. They are consistent, with little tiny flourishes to make the sound more authentic.AKJ wrote:if you just need bagpipes visit www.wizoosounds.com

But for the price, I've gotten some very good use of it.

I converted the AKAI CD with CDXTRACT 4 and run the samples on the last version of VSampler.Aim Day Co wrote:[teacue, what program are you running the Ilio samples on?
