I'm using Cubase SX3 (with all the updates) on Windows XP.

Is there a way to set up an FX Bus? Like, say I'm recording vocal tracks using 2 mics and 2 vocalists. Both vocalists doing multiple takes, on multiple tracks.

Say I want a compressor, a reverb, etc on each track. It absolutely kills my CPU to open all of those insert FX on each track.

I know in Cool Edit you can just set up a bus, open the FX on that bus, and then route each track to that bus. That way you only have the FX open once and it saves your CPU power.

Is there a way to do that in Cubase SX3?

are you serious? you bought SX3 and don't know how to bus FX? This is so mind numbingly easy, that I can't answer. I don't want to encourage insanity like this.

Uh, yes, I bought SX3 and don't know how to do this. I bought SX3 to sequence my hardware with. I haven't done much recording with it at all. And if you're trying to imply that it might be pirated, then check my profile out at the official Steinberg forums. it has my dongle number already listed. Same username as here, and this post is a cut and paste from one I already posted over there...

So now, instead of being a jerk why not just help me out if it's so easy for you?

So umm, how about reading some manual then? You got one with your copy of cubase, and there's a good one inside the software itself.

Look, yes, my software came with a manual that's several hundred pages long.

I am not home right now. I'm at work. I figured this was probably an easy answer that someone could easily give me. That way I can spend my time actually making music rather than researching a simple process.

can someone please help me out here or is this forum just full of a bunch of jerks?

You can FREEZE any audio track anyway using the snow flake icon....

argh, since nobody feels like helping you ...

its been a while since I've played with Cubase (I don't own it, used it at a friends house), but I believe you right click in the mixer, add track ... group track (or something similar) ... then, in the mixer view, for the tracks you want to route, above them should be an input and an output (the output should be marked with a little arrow pointing away from it or something similar, if I remember correctly) ... click that, and select whatever you named the group track

oh, and guys ... be a little more f**king supportive, eh?

I'm sure every single thing ever discussed in these forums can be found somewhere else. So why even have these forums then?

I mean, sure, I can find out how to do this in the manual, but I can also find everything else ever discussed here someplace else too, as can everyone else here. So the argument that I'm retarded for asking how to do something that's in the manual is actually a retarded argument. And it's an argument that is only used by retards.
