timestretching

is this possible in live slice? i assume thats what the *stretch* option is for, i'm used to fruity loops and using its implemented time stretch on the fruity slicer, which works out great for me since zero x beat slicer compliments fl so perfectly. i'm a sample based producer doing hip hop, and i am moving on to cubase/nuendo for my production purposes.. i love vsampler 3, but it doesnt have time stretch!

No. The stretch option actually adjusts the pitch of each slice to match the length of the beat, kind of like what old phrase samplers used to do.
I think timestretch is on its way at some point in Liveslice. Pretty sure there's timestretch native to Cubase, though, so you may not have to look elsewhere for it.

the next major LiveSLice update (1.5) will import rx2, and zeroX beat slicer files, and it will do sample based time stretching (to fill the gaps between slices when lowering the tempo below the original).
This will make LiveSlice a very flexible, multitrack loop library player, supporting all major sliced loop formats.

my computer science teacher told me always to answer this sort of questions in very vague terms, so:stale bread wrote:when

before the audio unit version comeso ut? is that an actual piece of hardware?
i'm feinding for this, every sampler i've tried just doesnt suit my needs, kontakt 2 is good, but i don't like what they did with the slice markers..
ex:you can't rearrange slice markers.
theres no guideline that tells you the location of the file when its being played.
--------
my only grudge with fruity loops is that it sounds think and dull to me. i've done numerous a/b comparions with nuendo and Fl, and Nuendo just sounds better..
Fl slicer+zero x beat slicer does everythign i need.
zero x beatslcer-allows me to set my slices o na sample.. has a big interface with zoom. once my slicers are set......
Fruity slicer- allows me to timestretch any offset chops, also has a pitch function and other envelope options.

What is Loop Cropping? I use the Trim/crop function in soundforge but how will it be used in LS?
Personally what I'd like to see the most is the zoom track feature or being able to expand the gui horrizontally.

loop cropping simply means removing samples from the beginning and / or end of the loop - just like the trim/crop in soundforge. It will be non-destructive though, so it will be a matter of defining a start and an end point in the slicer.
I'm contemplating splitting up the next release into several minor releases, for various reasons. This means there'll be a 1.45, and perhaps a 1.48 before the 1.5 milestone. I haven't fully decided what features to implement first though. Perhaps a vote would be in order?

Yeah, let's have a vote.
Or maybe we should vote first whether we should have a vote or not
