How will it look? A cross between a step based (Lauflicht) sequencer and an intelligent arpeggiator. Scale Force, Harmonic and Melodic Algorithms, Automation curves. Modify All Parameters While Playing. 16 Parameters Per Step.

What are your ideas for a cross between sequencer and arpeggiator?
What functions do you miss in current hardware?

This instrument will be constructed as hardware.

In order to optimize the usability and find out the desired features I need the help of the community.
A prototype software will be available next month.
I'm writing this software to implement my ideas for the actual hardware.

If you are interested in testing the usefulness of this little piece, please contact me by email using the contact form at http://www.synthware.com/cms/component/ ... /Itemid,3/ with the header saying: Z8 Feature Test.

Thanks, Frank

Sorry  for my mistake not to mention it:
As you can see in the screenshot, the application currently is MacOSX 10.4 or later only.
Feature Testing will start on 1.3.2008 for MacOSX.
Feature Testing will start on 1.4.2008 for Windows.

Thank you for the interest so far.

Some people have asked me if the software is for sale.

The prototype software is not a commercial software, we don't plan to sell this software and it should not be used in commercial music production.
It was developed for the sole purpose of collecting opinions about
the usability and the design of the upcoming Z8 hardware.
This hardware will be controlled by a microcontroller and will not depend on any computer or computer based software.

Obviously I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but my first reaction is that you probably should have a row of buttons as well as knobs.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Indeed I thought the same , but it is a matter of price. My idea was to use an octave of the connected midi-keyboard to select and trigger the motives.
