Octave shifting using r8brain

forgive me, I've done this before, but it was a couple of years ago, and I've forgotten what I did - and for some reason my brain is hurting trying to work out the logic again..

I have a 44.1k file I want to put an octave up. Pitch shifters are terrible, r8brain is fabulous at it.

I've tried 44.1->88.2 setting r8 at 44.1, comes out oct up, but twice speed (as I would expect)

I've tried several combinations of x->y, r8 at z, then processing again to get y->(oct above x), r8 = 44.1, but I'm just not getting it.

Anyone care to give me some idea? I know, being a VST coder, I'm supposed to be clever and able to do this sort of thing, but today it seems I can't and could use a helping hand!

r8brain doesn't do pitch shifting if I recall correctly. Resampling can change the pitch but it also changes the tempo along with it, always has.

Hello Duncan,
U can try this VST.
As it is not purely DSP based,
In a large project it will start to pop, due to prioritising of a system.
But, loaded in a minimal project, it resamples arrays,
and fades their ends into each other->

It is not a great sound, but hmm, it's a successful method IMO.
It's 3 line, making a 3 note chord.
Suffers from tremolo, due to the fades.

For this kinda thing, Acid has 3 algos that do it off-line.
There are several engines also, Direc(in Wavelab) and Elastique get praise

Don't really use rbrain but... do you need to use an intermediate file so produce the octave up double rate and then slow it back down in a second iteration of rbrain?
