I have Garritan GPO 4 and World Instruments and I use these all the time in my DAW (Reaper) but they do not seem to work in RapidComposer. I have all of my Native Instrument VSTis working just fine in RapidComposer but would love to be able to use my Garritan too!

Post

I will check this ASAP. I am trying to get a demo version of GPO 4 or an NFR version for testing.

Post

Now I had a chance to test Garritan GPO 4 and I found it worked perfectly in RapidComposer. Tested both x86 and x64 versions on Windows. I'll test it shortly on Mac OS X.
Please send me an e-mail with details, which version of ARIA Player did you try that did not work in RC. I am using ARIA Player 1.02/ARIA v1.093.

Thanks,
Attila

1) click Settings tab
2) click VSTi tab
3) click Add button
4) locate ARIA Player VST_x64.dll and select it and click Open
5) it shows up in my list of VSTi plugins
6) return to Composition tab
7) right-click to access Track browser
8/) click Instrument dropdown but Aria does not appear as an option

This is how I load my other VSTis. Should I do something different for Aria?

Post

My system,
-Windows 7
-RapidComposer v2.8, 64 bit installed
-64-bit
-ARIA Player v1.620 (I upgraded these today from an older version but still no work)
-ARIA Engine v1.620 (Win x64)

These are the latest versions of ARIA available. One thing I noticed is the dlls are not changed when I update the ARIA player. Their file dates are,

ARIA Player Multi VST_x64.dll - 4/29/2011 1:19 PM
ARIA Player VST_x64.dll - 4/29/2011 1:19 PM

I am selecting these two dlls to add in the Settings/VSTi tab. There is no option to select the executable ARIA player. This is how I add these VSTis to my DAW and other host software. Is there maybe something different I should do with ARIA for RapidComposer?

Post

No, you should not do anything different for ARIA.

I wrongly assumed that the installer that I downloaded had the latest ARIA player/engine. I also upgraded to v1.620, but everything still works well. It is sufficient if you add "ARIA Player VST_x64.dll" only. When you add a new VSTi, you will find it at the bottom of the instrument menu.
My dll files have todays date, because I upgraded today. Plug-ins are installed in C:\Program Files\Garritan\ARIA Player\VST on my PC.
The ARIA Player VST_x64.dll file is 459,776 bytes long.

Please try removing all ARIA Players from the VSTi plug-ins list, and add only "ARIA Player VST_x64.dll". It is best to tick the "Load once" check-box to use it as multi-timbral. If it was loaded successfully, you should see an entry at the bottom of the instrument menu.

Please note that there is a minor bug in the instrument browser (it is not updated when plug-ins are added or removed); this is fixed in the next update.

well, it always adds ARIA to the list of VSTs but then ARIA is never available to assign to a track! Here is a quick video so you can see the problem,

After adding the ARIA VST I tried closing and reopening RC and the VST still shows in the VST panel but never shows up in the instrument dropdown selector on the Track browser.

This is crazy! Thanks for the video.
Will you please check if you have a file named "ARIA Player VST_x64.dll.rcINST" in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\RapidComposer\DB ?

Post

I have the following ARIA related files in there,

ARIA Player Multi VST_x64.dll.rcINST
ARIA Player Multi VST_x64.dll.rcINST.deleted
ARIA Player VST_x64.dll.rcINST
ARIA Player VST_x64.dll.rcINST.deleted

Post

Attila, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Got it working!!!! Here is what I did,

- opened RC and removed all ARIA VSTs from the Settings/VSTi panel
- closed RC
- deleted these four files from C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\RapidComposer\DB
---ARIA Player Multi VST_x64.dll.rcINST
---ARIA Player Multi VST_x64.dll.rcINST.deleted
---ARIA Player VST_x64.dll.rcINST
---ARIA Player VST_x64.dll.rcINST.deleted
- started RC
- went to Settings/VSTi panel and added ARIA Player VST_x64.dll
- went to assign instrument to track and now ARIA is available!!!

I am so happy about this as I use ARIA quite a lot! Thanks again!!!

One more bit of info for you...the four files I deleted all had file dates of 11/17/2014. The two .rcINST files had a time of 3:59AM while the .rcINST.deleted files had a time of 3:45AM.

I assume I tried to load the ARIA VSTs when I was checking out the demo and those files remained.

The working ARIA Player VST_x64.dll.rcINST has today's date and time.

Good news! Thank you for being creative! ;)
I will check what is wrong when there are .deleted files. If you remove a VSTi plugin from the list, it is best to check "Also delete .rcINST file".

May I suggest it to be ticked by default (or pass by a confirmation dialog box)?

In many ebooks application, when you remove a book from the collection you have a popup which appears to ask for a confirmation "Delete also the file from the disk. Yes. No. Cancel".

I suggest that kind of behavior. The fact that adding/removing VSTIs is not a common action in the cruising use makes that added confirmation certainly not boring.

Otherwise, having the checkbox ticked by default could be nice, knowing that it will be recreated clean if we re-instert that same VSTI several weeks or months later.

Yes, good idea, BlackWinny. The checkbox will be ticked by default.
