Welcome to the Alliance:
PPG Synths acquired by Brainworx!

Plugin Alliance is proud to announce that founding member Brainworx has acquired the assets of Wolfgang Palm's iconic PPG brand. PPG will join the Alliance very soon with their famous synth products, updated by BX in close cooperation with the man himself, founder Wolfgang Palm (who is universally recognized as the originator of the wavetable synthesis)!

Together Brainworx and Wolfgang plan to take the PPG brand and advance its digital products into the future, following Palm’s planned retirement at the end of March 2020 - after 50 years in the creative field of sound synthesis!

Wolfgang Palm "I am very glad to have found Brainworx and Plugin Alliance, who appreciate my work from the past and want to continue my legacy. They have a great team of competent developers, product specialists, marketing, and all that is needed to make a company successful. I support their work to make the transition as smooth as possible, and it will be exciting to see how this evolves. Also, I think that this collaboration will result in a much wider audience than before."

PPG synthesizers found a place onstage and in productions of artists such as A-ha, Alphaville, David Bowie, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Depeche Mode, Jean Michel Jarre, Level 42, Rush, Talk Talk, Tangerine Dream, Tears For Fears, Ultravox, Stevie Wonder, and many others.

Dirk Ulrich "We are proud that Wolfgang Palm put his brand and product into our hands. We will make sure to carry his legacy with the respect it deserves and we are looking forward to evolving the brand and products for years to come."

Before Wolfgang Palm developed his own apps, I would have been more excited about this. To be honest, his apps lack, especially in terms of GUI and operation. Sound wise, they're pretty nice. In regards of anything else, I'm not really a fan of them... good to see he can do something to keep his creations alive (which is the main point, I assume).

What does this mean for Waldorf, is that a completely separate thing?
Lol. That’s what I was thinking. Now I can own the whole catalogue without having to pay $600.

AFAIK, Wolfgang Palm doesn't have anything to do with Waldorf.

It says "consulting" in the manual: https://support.waldorfmusic.com/files/ ... Manual.pdf

I'm aware that he used to be working for/with Waldorf, but, don't think he really is anymore.

Finally something interesting for my vouchers...

Looks like PA vouchers won't be sold/given away anymore. ;)

I have Phonem, WaveMapper and Wave Generator. If BX are able to make changes around saving presets, resources etc then I'd probably pay for an upgrade. Those 3 apps assume you save the state of the synth within a DAW project, it's not so easy to create new wabvetables and presets and then use them elsewhere which is the way I work.

Just read about this. This could be interesting! Also: Wolfgang is essentially retiring; so it looks like he was pretty much done with further developement of his apps, anyway (after 50 years! Wow!). Infinite is a very unique synth - it could def use some TLC.

This may actually be a collab - you both may be right. Pa/Brainworx now owns the ip, but he may be in the thick of it as a supreme consultant - he's a genius; and he's not a jerk. As an example: he helped Waldorf with their current PPG V3.
