Hello Music Buffs,
I recently came across Rigid Audio’s excellent range of Kontakt instruments. One thing that I really liked about them is the concept of having four independent layers with individual controls, as this allows for exploring soundscapes within a single interface.
However there’s a catch: all layers are routed to the main stereo out which means I can’t process them independently outside of Kontakt.
I managed to reroute them to individual outputs but then all effects and inserts are lost so it’s not really a solution.
Does anyone know how to do the routing in Kontakt so that inserts and sends are preserved but the audio is sent to individual outputs? Is this even possible?
Thanks in advance!
Independent Kontakt outputs in Rigid Audio’s instruments?

You cannot really do that, unless you have the effects in instrument busses, then route the busses to individual outputs. If you change the outputs at group level, that audio is never gonna reach internal effects.

Thanks. I was afraid so but thought it worthy asking the question anyway. I suppose that’s a limitation of Kontakt’s architecture? As in terms of routing usually we are given the option to assign a signal to an output pre or post insert (including sends)...

You can only do this for sends depending on where you place the Send Levels module (if you place it as last in Group FX chain, then it's pre-insert, if you place it as last in insert FX chain, then it's post-insert.
Anyways, I don't own those libraries, so I cannot see how the FX are laid out in them. But as mentioned, if you route groups into instrument busses, and duplicate insert FX chain in individual bus (this will increase the CPU usage, of course, but no way to avoid it), then you can send out signal from instrument busses to individual outputs, with effects retained...
