Just incoming:
Sonnox joins the Focusrite Group
We're excited to announce that Sonnox has joined the Focusrite Group!
Whilst we're a relatively small team, we've always had significant ambitions for our future, aiming to develop and release an increasing number of products that best meet the evolving needs of new and existing customers.
Finding the right partner was key to achieving these ambitions, and we believe we've found that in the Focusrite Group. Sonnox now adds audio software to Focusrite Group's growing portfolio, specifically complementing their existing offerings in the music and recording space. The current Sonnox team, products, brand and identity remain whilst gaining new opportunities for collaboration and growth as part of the Focusrite Group and its family of industry-leading brands.
We look forward to a bright future together.

Statement of Focusrite:
We are delighted to announce that as of today Sonnox has joined the Focusrite Group.
Sonnox is a well-established and acclaimed brand in the audio industry. Its range of innovative and award-winning plugins are used in a wide range of audio applications including mixing, mastering, live sound, broadcast, TV and film, and even scientific and forensics projects.
The Sonnox team traces its heritage back to the development of the legendary Oxford OXF-R3 digital mixing console which was installed in major recording studios worldwide, and became widely accepted as the first ‘musical’ sounding digital console.
Combining the same no-compromise attitude to audio performance and a desire to push the boundaries with intuitive and novel user interfaces, the Sonnox team ported the revered DSP algorithms from the console to develop Oxford EQ and Dynamics plugins. Since then, Sonnox have continued to build on the Sony Oxford heritage as well as adding a range of Toolbox plugins designed for speed and simplicity.
With the addition of Sonnox, Focusrite Group now offers the customer even more ways to make music and achieve their goals.
Tim Carroll, Chief Executive Officer of the Focusrite Group, said: “It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Rod and his entire team to the Focusrite Group. Sonnox products are globally recognized as best in class, making them a natural fit in our stable, and we are all excited about the opportunities and possibilities that lie ahead.”
Rod Densham, Founder and Managing Director of Sonnox added: “We believe that by joining Focusrite with their scale, industry expertise, and range of premium brands, we can continue to grow, and deliver innovation and excellence to audio hobbyists and professionals alike. Focusrite have a proven track record of achieving this in our industry, and we are very excited to become part of their Group.”

Here's hoping we get some freebies or deals for the Sound Collective and they get rid of the obnoxious iLok cloud/dongle requirement.

I don't anything Sonnox, but, it's good to see Focusrite growing. Good company, I got a lot of free stuff over the years for owning some Novation hardware.

“We’re excited to have absorbed the Sonnox brand name and their intellectual property. Our software offerings have been pretty lackluster for years now. We’ll be keeping their team for a short while before laying off nearly everyone to save on overhead costs. As a result, future development will likely be nonexistent to minimal. We’ll have sales just like always, and probably more frequently as the plugins’ perceived value plummets (because of said sales), and we’ll leave pace protection in place as it discourages license transfers. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email our AI-powered autoresponse mailbox, which will send you a link to our FAQ.”

I don’t know it’s that simple as acquisition and then destroy.
I think Waves (shit ass Waves) and PA have driven prices so slow that it’s likely difficult to compete or stay relevant.
For all we know, this just might be the lifeline Sonnox needed.
I don’t think we’re seeing as many independent developers making plug-ins for desktops as we used to, so I have a feeling we’re going to see more acquisitions and mergers coming.

Focusrite seem a decent company. Better than being bought up by inMusic at any rate.

PreSonus could've bought them and renamed them PreSonnox.

Though if you think about the decades they've invested into their company and the development of so many great plugins, 10mill doesn't seem a lot to be honest.martinjuenke wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 12:26 am At least the Sonnox guys have got roughly 10 million for their company.

I don't know why I read that as Focusrite has bought Sonarworks. That would have had great synergies with the Adam Audio speaker brand that Focusrite bought earlier.
