it´s not the sounds i use, it´s not the music i listen to in private, but i very much like what i hear in that demo.
edit: crap. i was overexaggerating and stepped into the "shiny new thing/update" trap.
The update is just cosmetics. a wasted $49, sorta.
but i like some of the sounds. so, just a 50/50 waste. sorta.

Sadly I’m not familiar enough with Biotek 2 to be able to say. I did look, even going so far as to dig into the manual. I’m intrigued by the combo of 4 operator FM and the other oscillators. The new GUI with the Basic and Performance screens is cool and I felt like I was getting a grasp on the full edit screen before I had to bail out of making funny noises and have dinner.rj0 wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 3:04 am New features?
I see references to new GUI, better UX, more presets, better performance, but new features?

Got BioTek 2 for free (came with Waveform Pro) around three weeks ago, and haven't used it for more than half an hour until today. Besides other things it was the UI that pulled me off, seemed unorganized and confusing to me.
But since there's a reasonable priced upgrade path I needed to have a look at v2, and ran pretty much into what I expected lol. For some reason the entire layout/workflow confuses me.
Already started with finding an init/default patch, no direct way to create a new preset. Searched for "init", there's no init. Searched for "default", there are three defaults. The first two are a bass sound and a multi-layer preset, so no "empty" init patches. The third one is called "TY Default" which finally is what you'd expect from an "init". But quite annoying to only get there.
Then I wanted to tweak the Amp Envelope, but couldn't find it lol. Decided not to look it up in the manual, because I thought it's embarrassing to do that
But guess what, I had to reach for the manual and even needed to search for it there...
Turns out Env 4 is hardwired to Amp, which is mentioned in the manual buried in half a sentence, screenshot below.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think there's any indication in the actual plugin that would tell that Env 4 is the Amp Env.
So, already two things that drove me pretty nuts before even starting to do something.
Went on with checking out basic things, had a listen to the OSC modes and wanted to test the FX section. Turned on the Delay, not hearing any Delay. Turned on Reverb on the second slot, not hearing any Reverb.
Story short, couldn't find out why the FX bus isn't working, I don't know if there are routing options or something, also couldn't find anything in the manual. Screenshot attached, no idea why there's no signal running through the FX.
The FX thing admittedly might be a user error, but at that point I've already lost the nerve looking for the reasons
Conclusion surprisingly is that I'm still considering the upgrade to BioTek 3, for the most part because the overhauled GUI. Soundwise there's likely not a lot to complain about.
Here are two links with some infos about the update:

I wonder if the UI updates might make it over to Collective, since it has a similar UI, at least in parts of it.

So, i stepped into the "waste your mony" trap it seems. lame.
exactly: it started to feel like shit when i wanted to bypass the FX.
not sure if i managed it or not. need to scheck again tonight.
thats a shitstake update. probably not worth the admission.
but i like some sounds. they gain so much from some dynamic EQing + a resonance taming device on top of it.
To have the PC/Mac as a synth workstation is nevertheless a real joy.
Just stay clear of traps ! (advice to myself)

I think I picked up Biotek 2 in one of those 29USD sales...then never used it! Never grabbed me, I wont be updating.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

This is how I plan on picking up 3.
Patience for me. Checking JRR shop every couple of weeks, etc.
But the new ui, and a responsive gui, will be a huge upgrade in itself! Folks who were not BioTek 2 users are missing the importance of these changes.
This is a step towards Hive in the edit page.
I mostly use u-he Hive 2, with Renoise Redux, Tracktion F.'em, and BioTek 2 handling other types of synthesis and samples.
Also, it's cool how much they are leaning into the Easy and Performance pages for morphing sounds in these new preset previews.
I just picked up Sugar & Spice for Hive 2 with this similar type of motif. I dig these soundpacks where you can hunt around the macros for new sweet spots, and have more care in them than just modwheel and aftertouch. Getting way more into good macro programming.
