Plugin GUIs crashing DAW

I've been using FL since 2012, and it was only last year that I encountered an issue that I never had before, where opening a plugin and clicking anywhere on the GUI to use it would immediately shut down FL.

Not every time, it happens at random. I have hundreds of plugins - synths, FX, MIDI generators - any plugin from any of these categories can cause this issue to happen.

When it does happen, two things that I have tested extensively to the point where I can safely say that this is true 100% of the time - 1) if I reopen the project I had been in at the time of the crash, opening that plugin and clicking on it will make FL instantly crash again, no matter how many times I reopen and do it. And 2) if I open a brand new empty project and open the plugin in question, it still happens there too, no matter how many times I reopen and do it.

The only thing I've discovered that works in this situation, is to open a saved project that is not the one where the crash had occurred, and then for some reason I am able to use the plugin not just there, but then in any project. And from then on, that plugin works fine, as it always had done before, and it's just a wait until a different random plugin starts with the same behaviour.

When this happened last year, I spoke to FL support about it and they insisted it was an issue with the plugins. But, it has happened too many times with too many different plugins, from too many different developers, even when I know for certain that they are up-to-date. And if it was the plugins, you would not expect all of them have the exact same issue every time. Neither would you expect the workaround of opening an older saved file to stop it from happening.

When I told support about the workaround of opening an older project, they said "I am happy you found a solution. Thanks for all the info. Still, it's from VST side. Nothing more I can add".

The workaround shows that it's not from the VST side, if anything. And, it's also not a solution... it doesn't change the fact that FL can crash at any second, every time I introduce any new plugin to a project.

As I said, this began last year, but I'm looking for help now because it actually went away when I bought a new high-end computer a few months ago. Up until the other day, I hadn't experienced it again. And now it's non-stop again. I also tested different DAWs with the same plugins at the suggestion of the support agent. On this new computer, plugins are up to date, FL is up-to-date, everything on the PC is up-to-date. No recent PC / Windows changes or updates or any that are needed.

As FL support's last message to me was "Nothing more I can add", is there anyone on here that has any experience with this issue?

FL Studio has known GUI "problems". I can't explain it technically, but you'll notice it clearly if you try to record FL Studio with OBS.

I don't have OBS, so I can't comment on that. But thanks for the reply, It's good to hear that similar issues are known by other users. If I can find more evidence of others experiencing issues, I could open a ticket again and provide that as evidence, so that I hopefully don't get another response of "it's from VST side, nothing more I can add" again.
