Is there a plugin like XO but for beats/drum sequences?

Hi all,
I've been using Addictive Drums 2 mainly for its beat library — the ability to browse, filter, and audition pre-made drum sequences is genuinely one of my most-used features. I recently tried XLN XO hoping it would offer something similar for groove discovery, but XO is really focused on sample browsing rather than sequence browsing, it lacks the library and organization of beats by genre and content.
What I'm looking for is a plugin (or tool) where the primary focus is:
- A large library of pre-made drum sequences/MIDI grooves
- Meaningful search/filter (genre, feel, tempo, complexity, etc.)
- Fast auditioning
- Ideally some way to tweak or vary the grooves
Thanks!

Triaz has some nice genre filtering and building blocks

And IIRC you can lock a pattern that you like and load a different preset for the drum sounds. Or vice versa.
And you can audition each preset without loading it.

Yeah. Triaz excels at this.
You can lock the current kit and just browse through sequence presets.
There's genre filtering and you can also do the opposite ie. Locking the sequence and browse kits.
You can even filter specific parts of the kit while you're browsing.

I downloaded triaz and definitely liking it a lot but I also downloaded the trial of ezdrummer and it has exactly the kind of focus on groove library that I want, what I like a lot about AD2 and EZD3 is that they not only give you a single loop but variations, breakdowns, build ups, fills.
The perfect product for me would be something like Triaz with the groove library and features of EZD3.

I think EZD3 is your best bet. At Thomann, you can find the best price on Toontrack's MIDI library bundles. They come with 6 serials that you can use to get the MIDI expansions you want. On YouTube, search for Shootie School for countless free video tutorials.
Use EZD3 to create your drum arrangements and then drag the MIDI into your DAW to use with Triaz or XO or whatever you like for sounds.

Anything with more sample slots. Even 80s hardware drum machines had more than 8 voices!Cuauhtli wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 3:13 pm They need to release a new version. Maybe Dirty XO, or Crack XO.

and longer sequencer lenght, and better groove library.Hewitt Huntwork wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 3:44 pmAnything with more sample slots. Even 80s hardware drum machines had more than 8 voices!Cuauhtli wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 3:13 pm They need to release a new version. Maybe Dirty XO, or Crack XO.
After going through the market offerings it seems electronic focused drum machines don't have the "groove library" features of the acoustic drums focused plugins. EZD3 now have lots of electronic expansions nevertheless.

I am on ableton Live, one thing that also is quite annoying with Addictive drums and exd3 is importing the MIDI, the options to make it fit into a given drum rack are limited if any. I am making a midi transpose tool with claude for this problem.Morty-C-137 wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 6:41 amWhat DAW do you use?rod_zero wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2026 6:03 am Hi all,

Triaz is nice in that it can import the single shots into a drum rack so easily.

Aha.. yeah don’t know if Live has something instantaneous for auditioning drum grooves. I was thinking about Logic’s Step Sequencer where that is very easy once you have a lot of Step Sequencer presets. But one would have to acquire those presets from somewhere and I am not aware of there being some 3rd party market for that (there should be imho). Apple does have some built in, but nothing huge or comprehensive. And specially not for acoustic drums (as they prefer their player regions for that).
