I know it's mostly a hardware-driven event, but was expecting to see at least one or two exciting things pop up here or in the Effects forum, but so far it's been nothing but crickets.

Is there no buzz at all this year? Is the era of innovation in music tech over?

So plugin effects not being particularly present at a hardware-focussed event are indicative of a innovation downturn in the entire music tech industry?

Hmmm. Cant help but feel there's a flaw somewhere in that hypothesis.

But that's hardware.
OP posted specifically about lack of stuff relevant to this, then Instruments forum, which is for software, and referring to Effects forum, also for software.

His proposal is that lack of excitement generated for software plugins at a hardware-focussed show indicates an issue of innovation for entire industry.

I forget who but one of the analog brands was releasing a software version

Dont know if it was at SB, but 4ms are releasing a fully hardware version of a VCV software reverb module. (a full hardware clone, not a MetaModule thing)

No it was a synth.
Damn my feeble memory glands!

There's plenty of innovative music tech. Perhaps the era of everything being announced at trade shows is over.

OP starts a thread about the lack of innovation on display at Super Booth

Gets excitement over a reissue that is a strictly limited edition run of a synth from over 40 years ago as an example of innovation

I think we are finally getting to the point we have already achieved every possible way to send a saw wave through a resonating filter with some modulation, including remaking every possible and semi commercially viable way to do so that we had in the 1970s and 1980s

That reality is what was on display at Super Booth this year and has been on display for quite a while in the software space and at NAMM in the states

Software instruments and effects don't really need trade shows and in the age of the Internet neither does hardware

My hope is now that everyone owns every possible way to send a square wave through a filter with modulation that they care about, in hardware and/or software that a new wave of innovation will come into the scene

There's no hypothesis. There were several software vendors at Superbooth, and this and the Effects forum are software-focused. I thought the framing of the question was self-explanatory but maybe not.

I assume you don't know anything about the topic so therefore have nothing to contribute other than pedantic nit-picking?

The framing of the question was to extrapolate from turns out to be 'several software vendors' to a innovation downturn in the entire music tech industry, though, wasnt it.

Just as well we can just bypass anything hardware shown at a hardware-centric show, because obviously that doesnt count as part of the music tech industry.
I assume you don't know anything about the topic
I assume you go straight to ad hominem when your hyperbolic extraploations are challenged.

So you have nothing of value to add to the topic... got it. Thanks for clarifying!!!
