I’m building MusicNote Haven MIDI Manager: a desktop tool for messy .mid/.midi/.kar collections. It helps index, search, listen, organize and preserve MIDI archives. I’d love feedback from keyboard players and MIDI collectors. Public info/manual: https://musicnotehaven.ethercomm.eu

A quick update on the MusicNote Haven MIDI Manager: about 90% of the development backlog is now completed, meaning the application is very close to its final release.
As shown in the dashboard screenshot, the Deep Analysis module is running smoothly, having fully analyzed and sorted over 141,000 MIDI and .kar files based on specific hardware like Yamaha and Roland.
The Floppy & Disc Images module is also fully operational now. This allows you to convert curated MIDI files directly into Gotek floppy emulators USB stick with disk images (.img) for vintage keyboards and synthesizers. The coming period will be all about polishing that final 10%.

Hi everyone,

Just to give a bit more technical background on the development: the Deep Analysis engine of the MIDI Manager was heavily tested and optimized using a TrueNAS SCALE VM with Ubuntu setup. I've been focusing on ensuring that the scanning process handles large bulks of files without bottlenecking database performance.

Once the app hits the 100% mark, I am also considering packaging it for easier deployment if there is interest from the community. Looking forward to any initial thoughts on the dashboard setup! Windows version and maybe Apple OS will follow soon.

Regarding the Floppy & Disc Images module, the main goal was to make life easier for hardware enthusiasts who use Gotek floppy emulators running FlashFloppy firmware.

Instead of manually managing individual files and matching sector sizes for vintage synthesizers (like old Roland or Korg gear), the manager pre-configures everything into a clean .img file ready to be dropped onto your USB stick. If anyone here is regularly using Goteks for their hardware workflow, I'd love to hear what specific disk formats you rely on the most.

Now that the core functionality is stable, I'm shifting my focus toward polishing the user interface and refining the documentation. The manual on the website already covers the basic installation and file sorting workflow.

Since this project stems from a passion for preserving old-school MIDI arrangements, community feedback is incredibly valuable at this stage. Feel free to let me know if there are specific legacy hardware architectures you would like to see supported out of the box!
