Jun Murakami - Synth-80

Just downloaded the demo, sounds really good to me. $59 intro.
Full integration with a real MKS-80 (patch bulk-dump send/receive, bank builder, edit-parameter send/receive). The signal flow overlay option is neat. Could do with more factory presets.

Sounds good! I see it can work with the hardware, but can it import sysex if there are banks online? I guess the "edit-parameter send/receive" is only with the hardware?

You can import from file or hardware. I just imported factory presets .mid file to test.

This is absolutely fabulous.

How's the cpu hit, if anyone has tried it?

I completely forgot about this synth. Yes, sounds amazing.

I'm on a brand new system so don't go by me.

It has a very clicky attack that's difficult to get away from, particularly when you increase the resonance. Is that how the hardware is?

Without oversampling and only 8 voices, it's much less than TAL J-8. But I think I prefer the filter for TAL J-8 because it preserves more mid-range and low-end for the filter resonance.

Can't say I've ever seen this message while visiting a website:

Anyway I've downloaded the demo and will give it a go........

It's likely because you can play the synth in the browser via MIDI. Chrome has supported this for a while, although Safari lagged behind in supporting MIDI (not sure if it does still).

Post

Exactly, in fact there is a keyboard at the bottom of the screen where it can be manually played with the mouse.

Post

I guess I don't see the point in playing a synth from within a browser but to each their own.

Anyway I've tried the demo and it does sound good although limited compared to other synths in my collection. I probably won't make a purchase at this time but it seems worth the $59.

It's just a way to demo it! You get the usual plugins too...

It has things that impress me.
A certain solidity in the bass, lushness in the strings, brass sounds good.
I like how it doesn't fall apart in the lows and even the really high notes are almost clean, with OS that is.
CPU is as expected in the modern higher region. But playable even with oversampling. Ryzen 7900X.
Price is rather low which helps as this is not a synth that would become my next go to synth.
Not a no brainer but as I didn't want to get more synths this is surprisingly interesting.

Are there good preset banks available for it?
Does loading the presets works and do they sound true to the original?
