Does anyone know what drum machine this clap is from?

A fairly well-known clap in its day. More precisely, it was already in widespread use in 1987. I've listened to the main drum machines of that era and haven't found anything. Maybe someone knows?

I believe it's the same clap as the one used in Word Up, maybe pitched up slightly and shortened, which came from a Linn 9000. Basically because for a couple of years everyone else used the same sample after Word Up came out.

This is definitely it! The search is narrowed down, leaving out the 1987 drum machines. But after listening to all the Lin9000 samples (and I have a lot of them), I couldn't find this one.

Thank you very much. This video explains everything.Gamma-UT wrote: Sat Jun 27, 2026 4:36 pm
In the KB6 set it's "LinnClap". But might be classed as a snare in others.
