Hi,
after my failed "foray" into the world of Proteus X I am now looking at getting Halion Player, essentially to get a decent set of samples and also have a way of playing other commercial libraries (i am not that fussed about sampling my own sounds).
What are the thoughts on
a) Halion 3/Player in general
and
b) The samples that come with Halion 3/Player - do they have a decent piano? I am keen on getting one but would rather get a decent all-rounder than a dedicated piano sample player.(such as East-west's or steinberg's).
Comments would be welcome!
IS THE HALION 3 SOUNDSET/SAMPLE SET ANY GOOD?

I was wondering this myself, but never got a good answer over on the Halion site. Nevertheless, I bought the upgrade to Halion 3 last week. I have not received it yet. Halion is a great sampler and i have been using H2 for over a year. The samples that come with H2 are probably similar to H3. If that is the case, most of the samples are higher quality. I wouldn't say they are the best i have, but they do work for most stuff. The piano is a bit above the average for free, downloadable pianos like Splendid and a few others. To me, it is not as nice as The Grand. I know many people have complaints about The Grand, but it has a very even tone acroos the spectrum. it works for me. The drum sounds with H2 are pretty usable. I don't think I have done much with any of the other samples.
