List them here I would like to check out some sample only forums.

What is cool on the net these days regarding sample sites not like k-v-r - just sample based info feedback etc?

Do you mean forums that discuss how to use samples, which sampler is the best etc.?
I don't know any.

If you are interested in sample spotting (i.e. who used which sample), go to www.the-breaks.com (it's rather focussed on hiphop, though).

Cheers! declassified – it was more of not sample spotting but the use and creation of samples – also what libraries exist that are by original content providers – who else do they market their sounds to? What tools do people find most useful in the loop creations, tuning, cutting, batch conversions etc. what marketing methods do artists find most affective with their libraries? What kind of time span does it take to create a fully fledged commercial library? How do you know the quality you purchase is good or just bloat? What jobs have sample providers done that they found most fun to do? How many use fx and to what degree? What is the most common sample rate and tempo used in recording? What are the best mics for certain types of sounds that are actually used and not just pasted adverts? Who makes their own mics? In other words does a high level sample community exist – or do they just try to cut each others throats? While others spend 16 hours a day cutting, looping n recording?

This kind of stuff is what I meant :D

You could ask at http://www.vi-control.net - a lot of sample developers hang out there... Or http://www.northernsounds.com if you're feeling brave ;)
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

I've heard AudiosShot.com is a great site too, isn't there room for samples discussion?

I hope BITR and Zvon and Manytone and HollowSun and DangerousBear and Squids will also reply to this thread. (or maybe you could ask them in pm, but then we miss the answers here).

Thanks Hans :) well I don’t know about creating a sample discussion area such as that at the Auditorium – indeed samples are hosted there along with sound fonts – but the larger concentration of the Auditorium is music tracks – plus I did not want to create a bigger section if something better exists already as far as discussion of samples go – I have been thinking about it though ;)

It's pretty heavily moderated - if you post something which conflicts with the interests of the advertisers they will quite possibly delete your post, or worse... Not that this has happened to me yet, but I've seen it happen. On the other hand it seems to be a lot more peaceful than it was a few months back when there was a whirlwind of flamewars. Anyway, I think these problems are mostly water under the bridge now, and it's still a very useful source of information.

...haha... :D  :D ....lol....

Thank you griels, given that info I think I will be a browser of it but not a partaker, if true feedback is eradicated due to commercialism, I wont function too well in that environment.

It seems to me right here at k-v-r we have everything in one forum, the ‘hey look at my new sample library –get it here’ and the ‘what and hows’ thing is its difficult to find stuff when its clustered like that – just one other section here would help to keep the two topics separate and condensed. I wonder if that is a possibility? If not I could create another forum in the sounds section at the auditorium.

I can also recommend NorthernSounds for the most up to date info, and some very knowledgable people. Almost every sample library developer I'm aware of is there and active.

Not only is that the biggest joke I've ever heard it's also a supreme testiment to the crap going on at Northern Sounds. Allan you know as well as anyone that "almost every sample developer is there" is a lot a of garbage. Where is East West (and don't just say they left because now they aren't allowed to post either), where is Dan Dean, where is the NSKit guy, where is Franky, and all the other developers who have been run out by you know who.

You are certainly free to speak your mind but don't diminish your public standing by trying to act like everything is just great over there. Weren't you banned yourself at one point?

Post

AlleyCatz,

EW left there by their own choosing, they were there up until a month ago and their customer base is still there. Dan Dean posts there occasionally - but is busy with his new album that's climbing the charts to post daily, I talk to him every week on the phone, his new CD is really good.

The NSKit guy posted there two days ago, multiple threads - some following the rules - some not. But he and I had a nice discussion on NS three months ago about the largest and most in-depth sample libs, so he IS there. Franky is from Vintage Audio and posts there when he gets asked a Q about his libs or when he has a new one to sell.

And I never said everything was "just great" over there - I said it has the most up to date info (most devs post there first) and the devs are there - even if they aren't posting everyday.

Yes, I was banned from there once upon a time, for not following the rules. I disagreed with management, but we worked it out. And everything is 'just great' between us now.

Glad you had to join just to post that...

EDIT: Speaking of Franky, this was just posted a minute ago: http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/sho ... hp?t=35063 :)
