I'm trying to understand this phenomenon of dj culture, and I don't have a clue who's who. I like some of Dj Krush's stuff, but I'd appreciate your recommendations.

wolfman jack...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

My favorite DJ is Cut Chemist. I once had the privilege of standing right behind him while he was spinning at a private party. Unbelievable..
My favorite work of his is this album: http://www.mp3.com/albums/294619/summary.html
Cut Chemist meets Shortkut, Live at the future primitive soundsession.
He is one of Jurassic Five's DJ's, but I love his solo work even better.

Iv always been a big fan of Mauro Picotto. This guy gets some bad press, but seriously his Italian techno allnighters were f**king mind blowing. He has to be the only DJ Iv seen how will play literally anything to get the job done. I think this is probably why some of the die hard techno fans dont rate him, but i think its his best trate - one minute it'll be some wacky electro, next some nice mellow progressive, then something a bit funky... all adds up to a great night in my book.
But then again if this kind of music isnt your bag, then this guy would probably be the bottom of your list!
If you are into this stuff, then check out him and his hombray's:
- Gabry Fasano
- Riccardo Ferry
- Massimo Cominotto
- Joy Kitikonti
- Chris Liebing
And probably plenty of others I forgot.

i listen to shitty music. when i go out, i just want to get hammered and dance like an idiot so my fav djs would obviously be scott brown or dj dougal or anabolic frolic. (it's the crappy hardcore that i would never admit to liking if i was talking to you in person)

DIESELBOY BY FAR. His albums, "System Upgrade" and "Sitch Session" are my 2 favorite albums.
If youre talking about actual DJ Skill, then Bad Boy Bill, Kid Koala, Cyprus Hill's DJ, and a few others i cant think of right now

meh i hate that though. It's that kind of desperity and impersonality that i dont like about many dj's.tee boy wrote:Iv always been a big fan of Mauro Picotto. Though i liked some of the stuff he did for global underground

Chase,
Im telling you mate, that is the great thing about this man. He plays completely random stuff, but it all comes out sounding Picotto. I have no idea how he does this, I dont know any other DJ who can.
Honestly Chase, those sets he did around 2001 / 02 were so characteristic. Might be cuz alot of the tracks were his own, I dont know.
Btw, have you heard many of his productions from around that time? Some of my favorite dance tracks even today - Baguette, Verdi, Hong Kong... f**king quality tunes!

Try:
- Meganite Compilation (double CD mix)
- The Others (artist album)
Also, I know he's fine with people downloading and sharing his live sets. Infact, he asked us once to send him one! Not sure if there is any major copyright issue here, but if you feel ok about it then get some of the 2002 sets.
