Novel Simple has announced the release of Simple Divisi, a real-time MIDI divisi engine built for orchestral and ensemble writing.
Simple Divisi is designed to solve a common workflow bottleneck for composers: moving from a played musical idea to clean, divided lines without losing creative momentum. It intelligently routes notes from a single keyboard performance across up to 6 independent output channels, sorting them from highest to lowest musical voice.
Unlike basic key-range splitters, Simple Divisi distributes notes by their musical voice role within a chord. It includes a configurable chord wait buffer to ensure accurate voicing even with flexible playing, and a true legato engine that tracks voice continuity between notes for smooth phrasing.
