Advanced yet relatively compact delay-based synthesizer, capable of producing very diverse, original timbres and of high quality: from blown to orchestral sounds, from plucked strings to brasses, from amazing basses to synthetic sounds.

Key Features.

-Three parallel, independent Tuned-Delay modules with feedback damping.

-Autoscale-feedbacks-with-pitch option, for all notes to have the same release time.

-Stereo noise source and true stereo processing, for naturally wide stereo sounds (no need to use ambience effects).

-100% click-free (no annoying tiny sawtooth-like pulses, unlike similar synthesizers) thanks to a high accuracy digital waveguide coded by the author.

-Special resonant multimode biquad filter (upto 8 stages) for the noise source, with VEL/AT/KS/KF control.

- Impulse envelope with Attack and Release velocity control.

-Additional post-delays release gate to shorten feedback.

- LFO with sine or random wave for FM or AM.

-Option to apply Pitch Bend to the upper note only.

-Extensive Velocity and Aftertouch support.

-Polyphonic Glide support.

FIXED IN 1.0 FINAL.

-No more detuning with feedback damp.

-Delay lines use all-pass interpolation for all notes to have the same HF content.

-Now guaranteed to sound identical at any sample rate.

-Added OneShot option to the main ADSR to avoid "exploding" envelopes.

-No more loud sounds when switching presets.

-Improved feedback knobs linearity.

-Many new presets & general cleanup.

FIXED IN 1.1.

-Envelope could sleep forever after switching presets causing skipped notes. Fixed.

FIXED IN 1.2.

- Internal redesign which should result in lower CPU load.

- Added Release velocity control.

-Removed A, D, S from the post-envelope (they really had no purpose).

-New digital waveguides used with DC peak abatement and residual input removed for a cleaner sound quality.

FIXED IN 1.3.

-Important optimizations causing a 50% CPU drop.

-Fixed serious bug causing hiccups and delayed notes.

FIXED IN 1.4.

- Improved DC peak filtering.

- Fixed noise generator bug causing some presets sounding "bumpy" for the first seconds of plugin run time.

-In some rare occurrences clicks and distortions could still be produced, fixed.

-Micro tuning problem caused by subtle bug in all pass filters, fixed.

CHANGES IN 1.5.

-Fixed a bug which could potentially make the sound degenerate into loud noise to the point of rendering the synth inoperative.

-Fixed instability issue with digital waveguides when using the LFO.

-Fixed digital waveguides slight tuning issue.

-Tuning ranges extended to -36/+36.

-Some new cool presets replacing some old ugly ones.

CHANGES IN 1.6.

-Further code optimizations and tidy up.

-Linearity of feedback knobs / feedback modulation slightly changed.

-Master filter re-coded from scratch (100% compatible with the previous one though).

-Minor panel re-design.

-MAC version included (many thanks to Michael Dubois for the porting !).

NOTE: The audio demo is very outdated and was made with an early version of Synlay. When I have time I will make a better one. Consider that the general quality has improved and many new presets have been included since.

CHANGES IN 1.7 and up: see included history.
