I'll pontificate like it's meaningful...The more I play with Serum, the more excited I get. I have almost every notable VSTi made, but this is the first time that I've actually sat down and started to get a handle on wavetables. Serum does so much grunt work behind the scenes that it's really satisfying to start making tables as a noob. I have to say that the Skippy tutorials are very helpful to me. All in all, it's good to be inspired. I feel like there are a whole lot of cool things out there waiting for me to turn them into Serum patches.

I really like the visual feedback of the wavetable position and LFOs. Clears up a lot of head-scratching. And has Massive-like simplicity in modulator assignment. I teach DSP and use it to introduce digital filtering concepts because it combines the visual and aural senses so well. But that said, I still use Massive for my 80's synth needs in my cover band because I've spent enough time with it that I feel I fully understand it and have patches for the songs we play in it. It's hard to keep the number of toys in my band arsenal down to a minimum, especially when head-turners like Serum walk by.

NatLife - you must like Serum if in the decade you've been at KVR you've only made three posts, and Serum was important enough to be among those three!

well, this synth is a killer for Roland/Korg/Yamaha most powerfull harware synths and it's true. I always testing a quality of sound, and even latest Revealed Sound's vst - Spire don't have such strong quality like Roland V-synth XT or even older - Yamaha An1X, i always need to use a stereo panorama fx's/other saturators and etc - to do the quality of Spire like in Yamaha An1x. Yeah, Spire is great in all senses but not in quality, i mean it's not same like in V-Synth or An1x, just because of engine in this vst'i. But in this!! wowow...i hear it in my beyerdynamic's, this sounds like what im looked for a long time! Now i no need to buy V-Synth XT just because now i need to buy a most powerfull PC, so i can use maximum of Serum sounds on it.
Right now i doing a special trance bank for Serum, i made a 20 presets so far, posted a little demo on youtube of 3-sounds before (i posted it here (http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=257), and what can i say - i made some of top sounds from 90' trance hits without any other wavetable, just used what i have in synth. And it's sounds of course more massive and the quality is great! Internal fx's are incredible, they like in best harware synths - not all but - Reverb, Delay, Hyper & EQ - this one. As for modern sound - made some of really monster basses, and of course the Leads & Plucks - it is very important for Trance music, and i can say - u just can compare it with Sylenth or Spire quality and will see the difference, one thing - u must have a bit of HQ or better Hi-End quality sound system - to hear a full difference between a synth's. As for me Serum have a next level standard - more to Roland V-Synth XT i think, anyway it's a really really great VST but the computer for this synth must be with a great processor and oeration memory.

Got it !
There's some really nice patches in there Joseph !
I'm so glad you labeled them KEY, LD, PD . . . ect . .
Makes it so much easier to find the type of sound your looking for . . also
REALLY nice strings and bells patches. I'll get a lot of use out of these ! !
and that mellow solo patch is worth the price alone . . . .

Fabulous sounds in Warmed, meticulously crafted for playability.
Anyone still saying that Serum is intrinsically "cold", forever hold your tongue!
