Some people do care though, mainly DMCA zealots, altho I don't listen to those folk. The simplest approach would be to.....ahh nevermind, I might get banned for trying to help.... :(I haven't tested this extensively because I'm trying to get the thing to work by alternative means. (Not like anyone cares, since this ain't being sold anymore anyway.)
Does Yamaha make soft synths anymore?

For the people that are having issues installing because of an "existing installation" as it says....
http://www.sendspace.com/file/46jbx8
That's the official XG uninistaller, works with all variations of Yamaha XG SoftSynthesizer software..

I would advise all to set the date before 2001 on your Win98 machines. I haven't tested this extensively because I'm trying to get the thing to work by alternative means. (Not like anyone cares, since this ain't being sold anymore anyway.)
I'll give the pleasure of letting someone else test it. Just remember, set date before 2001 or it won't work.

Can anyone help me with a problem I am having with the S-YXG100 softsynth? In the "read me" text it says there are 676 instruments plus 21 drum kits; but only 480 instruments and 9 drum kits in XG mode. How do I access all the instruments and drum kits? I seem to be stuck in XG mode, and I need access to the other drum kits. The 9 drum kits in XG mode do not include the one I need for my song, I need to be able to access all the drum kits (21). I'm using the XG player and XG Works, but I cant find the other instruments sounds listed anywhere. How can I get access to all 676 instruments, and not just the 480 in XG mode?

From the second post: "Last edited by softsynth on Wed Mar 14, 2007 6:41 pm; edited 28 times in total"
=O.o=
Now that's some serious research and updating.

Can anyone please repost that uninstaller? I screwed myself up in the course of reinstalling...
Great thread, btw. Thx for the knowledge.

i've just found out how to make s-yxg100 run flawlessly within parallels in win98 virtual machine.
It turns out the sound only sucks on parallels for win98 because of a driver.
but after much searching i found the one that works! (this one actually works well and with directsound)
ALC100 / ALC 201A AC 97 Codec Driver
http://download.sapphiretech.com/DRIVER ... teldrv.htm
parallels also allows to change sound source. so its perfect for jack router

I downloaded the XG soundfont, and I really do enjoy it. Would it be ok if I wrap it up as a VST including the soundfont?
