@Tj Shredder -- I had to make some fixes, along with some other people, but everything should build and run fine now off the master branch (although if you want to build VST 2, you need to find the VST 2 SDK somewhere, as Steinb0rg is no longer supporting it and is issuing DCMA takedown notices to any publicly available location that has the files). The instructions to build should be in the GitHub README, let me know if you have problems and I'll submit a pull request to fix the docs.

I do have the vst2 sdk and have signed the license as well. I just need some sort of head start to get into compiling stuff like that myself.

Looking forwards to the next updates then - thanks

I was able to build the latest Surge codebase, which has quite a few fixes and the AU version has an initial stab at a zoomable UI. Note: there seems to be a problem if you mix different types (e.g. AU and VST), so don't do that. The macOS builds are all 64-bit at the moment.
Update: still not "official" releases, but there are currently installers being built, available here for both Mac and Windows: https://kzantow.github.io/surge/
Cheers!

The Mac VST seems to work just fine in Live 10, OS 10.12.6! What a Xmas present!
Thank you!
Kind regards,

Very, very cool! Our guess is that Claes will be proud!z.prime wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:07 am I was able to build the latest Surge codebase, which has quite a few fixes and the AU version has an initial stab at a zoomable UI. Surge AU Surge VST Surge VST3
There is likely to be an installer before long, but for now just drop the files as previously indicated
Cheers!

We regret that we didn't compete this year until now. But we did make a synthesizer only track.
If you like to listen to a Roland Alpha Juno-2 only track, here you go: https://soundcloud.com/solidtrax/alpha-spheres
Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone, sorry for once more hi-jacking this thread for the Songwriting Competition over on Mix Challenge
But I think this might be of interest for you sound designers.
As you've probably heard through various hints throughout recent posts of mine, I'm currently running a special Songwriting Competition. However, not with a limited tool set, but rather a limited sound set. We've colelcted a handful of self-created sounds/samples from various participants in December 2018, which are now the sole sound source for the Songwriting Competition (SWC017/January). The twist, as you're used to from the OSC, is to create a production with just these sounds and samples. But there is absolutely no limit on how you get there. You can use resampling, wavetable synthesis, various types of modulation, etc. As long as you don't use any additional synths or instruments (vocals are allowed though). Else, the rules of the Songwriting Competition apply.
More about this can be read here, and the game thread can be found through this link.
I'd definitely love to see the participants of the OSC over on Mix Challenge as well, as this adds a slightly different twist to what you're used to here on KVR Audio. If we can exceed 10 participants this month, not only would this add to the overall interaction of the competition, but there are also more rewards available as bonus.
A huge thank you in advance!

hey z.prime how about changing your original post to link to https://kzantow.github.io/surge/ so that people can grab the better-functioning VST2,VST3,AudioUnit installers that get updated, and install properly (wavetable displays, lfo wavetable displays, presets load etc)z.prime wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 5:31 pm Also, just an FYI to all Mac users out there:
I've got working builds of the recently open-sourced Surge from Vember Audio on OSX both VST and AU. I've uploaded them to the Slack channel; you might need to be logged in there to download them. You're welcome to try them out and report back any issues (either to me or the Surge Github project although not all the changes required for this to work have been merged into the main codebase, so probably better to report them to me). I'm sure there will be some more "official" releases once most of these changes are merged into the codebase:
AU: https://files.slack.com/files-pri/T1SD6 ... ponent.zip
VST: https://files.slack.com/files-pri/T1SD6 ... ge.vst.zip
Installation is pretty straightforward/typical:
AU: copy the Surge.component to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
VST: copy the Surge.vst to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST

Heyo, how many OSC'ers use Windows 7 (or earlier)? If you could shoot me a quick PM, I'd love to have you test something out!
