thats why i would never recommend to anyone to fool around with the XML data of any manufacturer.jbraner wrote:You'd need to write a script - maybe powershell or vb - to run through a list of files and add the text, or edit text that's there.Now..how do do this with multiple files using an editor? Would be tough.
I'm not a programmer but it *should* be doable. You'd have to be *real* careful while writing the script though, as you'd easily screw up all your presets with one click
EDIT - I see bmrzycki beat me to it

I would - if I knew what I was doingthats why i would never recommend to anyone to fool around with the XML data of any manufacturer.
You just back everything up before you start fooling around. If (when) you screw up - copy your good data into the right place and try again...

Feigning insult along with your aversion to handling this directly only suggests you do not have a registered copy of the software and therefore do not have support privileges. My posts never took this thread off topic, only your disingenuous responses have attempted to mask them as such.GMusic wrote:...don't take this thread off course more than it is already.

So, everybody who asks a technical question about software on KVR is now presumed to be using pirated software? That's just ridiculous and, yes, it is insulting to the OP, who is a longstanding member of KVR and did nothing to warrant such suspicion. Many people, myself included, ask technical questions on forums before opening a support ticket.

Use a grep tool ieGMusic wrote:Now..how do do this with multiple files using an editor? Would be tough.
http://tools.tortoisesvn.net/grepWin.html
or try Textpad, which can open multiple files at once and do a search/replace through all of them.

Hats off to you whyterabbyt, thank you! It works perfectly. What I do to add categories is search for "Author=GMusic" and in the replace field use "Author=GMusic;Bank=Planetary Sounds" Then of course, hit the refresh button in Omnisphere. So now, all my patches in that folder I searched in will have a new category of Bank, tagged with Planetary Sounds.whyterabbyt wrote:Use a grep tool ieGMusic wrote:Now..how do do this with multiple files using an editor? And for the record, I do have a license for Omnisphere. I only did this so esteemed users don't doubt me (I could care less what newly registered trolls think) http://i.imgur.com/xUF87.jpg

Glad that helped. And if some cock thinks you should have gone to Eric Persing personally, just because you were thinking outside the box a little bit... I always try message boards before the official tech support, it's usually quicker. Google first, then message board, then tech support.

Awesome! Now all you need to do is add custom images to your sounds:GMusic wrote:Hats off to you whyterabbyt, thank you! It works perfectly. Nice one Whyte! I didn't realise grep could *write* to files, I thought you used it to read from files. I also didn't know there was a graphical one
Thanks for the instructions GMusic - I've copied them in case I ever feel the urge to screw around with Omnisphere tags (although I probably never will).
Oh - my Omnisphere is legal too - am I allowed to post here without prior approval from ampy?
