It would be if it were true. You didn't look, apparently:

Left hand column, last item: OPEN A SUPPORT REQUEST
…et voilà!

iZotope support is good, in my experience.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I recently updated to v2.02.415 without uninstalling the previous version of Iris 2. No problem - it just installed over the one that was installed.

I can finally answer my own quetsion. While Iris 2 has over 4500 samples, it comes only with 350 presets. So bascially you get 11-GB large sample library and need to build presets yourself :P

Not as awesome as one could have deduced from advertisement.

My impression of Iris is that it was intended as a sound design tool, rather than a preset machine.

The presets can give a very good idea of what can be done. The easiest way to begin using the extra sample content is to experiment with substituting it for one or more of the waveforms in a preset.

Here is a free preset soundbank for Iris 2 with 65 pads.

Here is a soundbank for $23 with 74 presets. I got this and these are really good.

Luftrum also has 1GB of free field recordings that you can use with Iris to create your own.

Here is a new one for me Virtual ANS.
http://www.warmplace.ru/soft/ans/

Hope V3 is a multi-touch VST and adds a few Iris like features. Prefer more features as a paid plugin rather than donatioware.

So which app will I buy first, Virtual ANS 3 or:

MashTactic when is is updated

Kaleidoscope when is is updated

I barely see 50 presets here, on Iris 2 , did something went wrong on my installation ?

I would say so! Sounds like you are still running the demo library. You need to log into your iZotope account and download the full library.

Here's another undocumented feature for that ever growing beautiful collection (li²ceotope).
Iris2 repeatedly crashes when I try to export a patch that has samples missing. Nothing really serious once you know it but it keeps you wondering what comes next.

From the manual:
Within Iris’s Full Browser are options for how you can work with your patches. Iris’s Sound
Library is comprised of patches and samples which live and are referenced within two
separate folders. When moving, copying, or deleting patches or samples, be aware that if
the hierarchy is not maintained, certain patches may break.

When exporting patches, your .IRIS patch files will be saved with the audio samples within
them. This is so that patches can be easily shared without worrying about creating sample
directories in the same places as the sound designer.
In order to easily share and spread patches between machines or users, click the Export button
in order to save your currently loaded patch into a specified directory. As mentioned above, the
exported .IRIS patches will be saved with their pertinent audio samples inside of the .IRIS patch
file for easy loading onto other machines

Thanks for the feedback, I've read the manual and didn't move any samples anywhere. I just tried to export a downloaded patch that had a custom sample missing right from the start what caused the crash(es), something that could have been avoided with a pop-up warning (..missing samples...). As I've said, nothing really serious once you realize what exactly caused the crash - pretty obvious - in this case.

everytime I see this thread bumped in the sidebar, my heart skips a beat ... and I think to myself "this is it, they've updated it, they've fixed it, they're continuing development" ... and then i click on the thread and I die a little inside.

every time. hope dies last.

I wonder if a workaround for that problem would be to drop a placeholder sample into the "missing" spot, and mute that sample slot before exporting?

I wish that the developer would continue supporting Iris 2, but it appears that it was not a big enough hit for them to continue development. But the first time I heard it, I was like "gotta have that!!!".

I got it for cheap this year, and find that this thing can make great sounds that none of my other instruments can. So I plan to use it as long as I can, while taking any idiosyncracies into account...
