I for one support the one-plugin-per-instrument approach. If I want cool hi-hats, I don't wanna buy 7 useless modules along with it, not to mention a sequencer I'd never use anyway.

People work different ways. I personally don't want to add more sequencers to my main sequencer, it just obscures things (and since my sequencer is Maschine, it's already drum-machine-like enough).
I don't mind a single plugin handling drums sometimes, but my preference is for each instrument to have its own channel. So I like this approach (though I also have more hi-hat samples than I know what to do with, have underutilized Maschine's Drumsynth cymbals, and sometimes prefer to synthesize my own from unexpected sources anyway).

Everyone has its own workflow. There is no right and wrong.
Single modules can probably go much deeper (in terms of features, details, possibilities, ...), while having the same amount of features/details in a whole drum machine might be overkill.
But I also think that full drum machines can be very very inspiring, especially if they emulate some kind of rare gear.
I have a Korg Volca Beats and I love it. I've never used the sequencer live or in a project, but I still have fun with it every now and then. I remember when I finished the sequencer for the Latin Percussion, I played with it for days almost non stop. But I never used it in any real project, I prefer to use MIDI regions.

hey audiothing i want the Retrigg like the Handclapper
that is Non-Negotiable !
i will not buy "Hats" until it has that feature(i bought Handclapper for that
and i want a simple step SeQ(not as important as retrigg feature)
that i can click and drag from the GUI onto a midi track
it would be faster than
- pencil tool make a region
- double click region
-re-select pencil tool instead of the last used tool in that region
- draw a pattern
that is Non-Negotiable !

I really like the single module approach especially for Hats, this allows much more flexibility with a less cluttered interface. This plugin is great for doing modulation over long periods which is inherently easier in a DAW than a drum machine. That being said a simple step seq ala Kontakt type would be cool as a lot of HH patterns are 1-2 bars long. Cant have everything . More than anything this single approach works for hats, great plugin/

I don't think that a re-trig feature is necessary for a hi hat plugin, but yeah, maybe a step sequencer might.realmarco wrote:hey audiothing i want the Retrigg like the Handclapper

As usual, I'm making a list of feature requests/add-ons and I'll see what I can do. Can't guarantee anything though!

I'm glad you like it! Yep, as said before a step sequencer might be a good idea. I will think about it.woodsdenis wrote:I really like the single module approach especially for Hats, this allows much more flexibility with a less cluttered interface. Dunno if it already has it but
the plugin should have 3 sample/synthesis slots
one for closed hat
one for half-closed
and one for Open-hat... having a step seq would Make sense
