That was a blast! That's the first and only rotary sim that gives me satisfaction
After starting to tweak the parameters myself i indeed was able to get some really nice sounds from the Blue3 demo version too.

Is anybody getting a virus warning? 1.0.0.0 Installer seems to extract 32bit plugins to a 64bit VST2 directory (Windows 7 64bit)

Virus = Win32/Heim.C
Intel Core2 Quad CPU + 4 GIG RAM

yeah, first installed the demo on the surface with bitwig - no presets there so I started of blank.
Later I installed the demo on the Mac (also to compare it to evb3) and there the presets were available. Yeah, preset impression is mixed - not that convincing IMHO

There's also Acoustic Samples' magnificent B-5 Organ Version 2 to consider.

Just sayin'…

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

It extracts to whatever folder(s) you specify. (Yes, the 32 bit VST location defaulted to my 64 bit vstplugins folder, but I changed it when it gave me the opportunity.)

Virustotal.com (that runs every anti-virus product on a file at once) shows the 1.0.0.0 Windows zip as clean (though two of them are detecting adware that aren't a threat).

The 32 bit Windows 1.0.0.1 dll scans fine, but the 64 bit 1.0.0.1 dll returns one positive. (Considering that's only one out of 62 products taking exception to it, it's probably a false positive.)

especially the overdrive is quite analogue (soft) sounding, not fizzy, and makes it very easy to overact

I read somewhere that it's lightweight with only 6GB, I think it was on Sound On Sound... well my laptop isn't that lightweight ready anymore, unfortunately, no way to test it

So what's it good at besides jazz (I think the demos on their website made it apparent), but what about other genres? I want that natural hammond sound that I'm getting from a leslie cabinet next to me when playing say A100 or C3 (no experience with B3 yet).

Edit: it says 1.25 not 6GB sorry may bad :dog: it was Ask Audio

I was fortunate enough to beta test & write a demo track for Blue3, and was very impressed by the wide range of useable tones. If you have time, take a listen to the full demo track "Eyes Open" - all the organs & rotary in the track are Blue3 + some additional reverb and delay for placement/space http://www.gg-audio.com/#listen (btw, all feedback on the song is very welcomed!)

I own a lot of organ VST's; Native Instruments B3 & vintage organs, AcousticSamples B-5, SoundDust HAMMR+, Omnisphere's Organs, and I tend to use all of them when I write as they each bring something unique to the table, but since using Blue3, I've found it a very worthy addition to my arsenal as it brings a unique and powerful voice of its own. Its currently my "go to" organ, especially given its really small footprint and wide tonal options! Very impressed by this release, and from a brand new developer to boot! Looking forward to seeing what else they come up with.

p.s. if anyone wants the sounds I used in my track "eyes open" I saved every organ used as presets. I believe I used 10 organs in total (maybe more?) and would be more than happy to share them with anyone who wants them. Just send me a PM.

Something to know about the overdrive, it reacts based on how much Expression you have driving it. So if the expression slider is low, you wont get much drive (unless you crank it) but if you are driving the Expression slider to the max, you can really get it to break up even with the drive knob at a moderate setting. So make sure you experiment with "expression" slider in conjunction with the drive settings, even if you are just moving the expression slider manually with your mouse or via CC11 by default. I personally found some very tasty sounds with the expression at about 80% and just slightly breaking up.

Anyone care to explain the "front stop" and "memphis" settings on the rotary?

Who will release Blue 4?
Rob's Blue came out in 2005 and got promoted to Blue II three years ago. Maybe no problem unless Rob releases another major iteration at some point.

Front stop makes the Leslie treble horn and bass rotor come to a stop facing forward in the stereo field, so it always stops in the same place and doesn't have noticeable pan or phase artifacts in that position (except I'm pretty sure right now it's coming to a stop pointing right -- didn't notice that on the original release, just in the new 1.0.0.1 update).

Memphis setting is when you disconnect the motors on the bass rotor so it's always still and only the treble horn spins. I wish we could have a half-Memphis setting too, where the bass rotor stops in the Slow setting but does go fast in the Fast setting (so only the bass slow motor is "unplugged").

Post

Thanks - I gather that Van Gelder recorded DI bass and only miced the treble rotor AND Jon Lord only miced the bass rotor and fed that signal to a Marshall. These alternatives (DI bass and Bass Rotor only) would be handy options.

WOW! just WOW. this is hands on the best B3 emulation I've heard on a computerized platform.
I couldn't stop playing it last night. the custom leslie, with just a little bit of drive gave me instant McDuff and JS tones just like the recordings. to be, this and VB3 absolutely don't compare. the drive is much better, the tonewheels are much more convincing.

my slight problem with this (as well as with VB3) is when I register a Wanderley type tone, direct output no leslie and no V/C, lowering the key click to 0, I still get lots of clicks when playing. why is it happening?

also, will it be possible to implement reverb controls with the option of sending it thru or bypass the leslie? would be lovely to see not just plate, but hall as well.
