I know the basics in synth programming, but would love some pointers on how to re-create these bass sounds. I use Logic Pro 9, Sylenth and Massive. These are the sounds I would like to make;

Bass at 1:18

Classic tune, once again the bass at 1:18

And once again at 1:18, nice pattern there
If anyone could just give me some pointers and help it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Thanks for the tips, going to check out FM8 more thoroughly and maybe purchase it! I was thinking maybe pointing me in the right direction in synth programming for example what types of waves and ADSR kind of thing?
Can anyone help?

besides the fact someone pinpointed the exact preset you need, i'll go ahead and answer your prayers...
1. take an FM synth
2. Load up 4 operators
3. set operator 1 to a sine wave @ ratio 0.5 and send it to the output
4. set operator 2 to a sine wave @ ratio 1.0
5. make operator 2 modulate operator 1 by 34
6. set operator 3 to a sine wave @ ratio 0.4998 & offset -0.11hz and send it to the output
7. make operator 4 modulate operator 2 by 39 and itself by 27
8. fiddle around with the envelopes of each operator (short attacks, some decay, no sustain...)
thats the exact description of the wood piano preset found in the yamaha DX21
the jamie remix sounds more like the lately bass preset found in any FM synth but you could get close using any synht wit saw wave osc's and a lowpass filter

You can get FB-01 for even 20$, so maybe instead trying to mimic FM synth in software you may go HW way and use real synth - this is the way I followed, and I'm more than happy with this right nowspikeoconnell wrote:Thank you very much thats really helpful! Of course mentioned FB-01 is horrible synth, but for that low price you can have many famous FM Sound, not only Wood Piano & Solid Bass, or you may invest even as much as 100$ for TX81Z/DX21/D100/YS200/V50 etc.
Sometimes it's easier and even cheaper to go hardware way.

Yep, FM8 is your friend here... Also, google some DX7 patches for FM8 too!
