I've dated lots of romplers after a while you can appreciate one that's been around the block a few times. Just because a newer one can squeal like a pig doesn't mean you can put a dress on it and take her to walmart.

Different maybe, but “richer harmonic spectrum?” No. Omnisphere will blow both of those rack synths away in every way except CPU use.

Also, what do you mean by “emulate the filter methods?” Both synths you’re considering are software based. The filter I’m the 2080 is nothing special and the Z-Plane filters (though not the specific ones in the Morpheus) are available as software. If you want morphing filters, the one in Filterscape is much cooler.

I don't think there is. My Morpheus developed a fault and I sold it on as such and there isn't anything that quite replaces it.

You could add some kind of morphing filter to a set of samples. That would give you some basic morphs. My experience of the Morpheus was that alot of the morphs were highly resonant and not really usable.

Check out Emu UltraProteus. I owned one, sold it and miss it.
Be aware that getting any Emu and older Roland hardware is frought with finding service when you need. Which is the reason I finally let it go. I still own two pieces of Roland gear, but I think I'm done with anything that Roland does in hardware or software now.
