Has/does anyone use the DRUMSET EDITOR > ADVANCED > Import function for soundfont (SF2) import?

I can't find the instructions for it. Pretty standard through a file selection dialog, but then I get a 'Select Instrument' window with a 'Search' textbox. and dunno... :help:
Tried a few things and best I get is the app seems to go to the hard drive for awhile, but doesn't display the kit parts, and I can't find the kit anywhere... :?

FWIW - Have imported the kits into a couple other soundfont players w/o issue.

TIA

You'll find the drum hit samples in LAYER SOURCE> SAMPLER> Root Path: Factory> IMPORTED.
On your hard drive they're in your MDrummer Data install location... >Melda Production> MDrummer> Samples> Imported. If the sf2 contained various programs MD will have asked you to choose an instrument (program).
All MD does is extract the samples from the soundfont and make them available...it's not a soundfont player as such. Very handy though.

Thanks for the info. It gave me something to lokk at...

You should see in the capture there are 49 'groups' in the SF2, and they all have some selection of samples. It won't let me select a group of them. Of course I want the whole drumset.
After I execute the dialog, it goes to the hard drive for sometime, and hangs at the screen shown at end. No further actions in the drumset editor are possible. I have to terminate the host, and then do find the group 1 files in the factory location.

I've sent sample SF2 to Melda but haven't heard back.

NTO,
I think you've found a bug. Just tried importing several different soundfonts. Sometimes just stalls plugin, sometimes completely crashes REAPER.

I noticed that the stalls/crashes happen when during the import MD creates drumtypes in the DRUMLIST, which I don't think it used to do. If no drums created in the list, then adding a drum> then clicking on LAYER SOURCE> SAMPLER opens up the factory directory, which is what used to happen I think.

I'm on 13.00b (beta). I haven't tried importing sf2 for ages, but I can't remember any problems like this in the past. I'm about to download 13.00c, will report.

goldglob,
Appreciate your checking. :tu: I'm just using the last release, not any beta.
Have piles of drumkits created in days of old, but MD hates the way I named them. Since I could make them SF2s, was hoping to get lucky!
Not today :dog:

Same problem in 13.00c (beta).
