Hi David,
is there an advantage over IL DirectWave apart from 512x oversampling?

Post

It can do auto sampling.
You open a VST inside it. Tell it which notes you want sampled and how many velocity levels you want and hit go. It then auto samples the instrument for you and names everything etc. It even auto sets the loop points for you, pretty cool.

DirectWave does the same in FL-Studio :).

But maybe, it's an option for Reaper or another DAW.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Oh, haha. I don't know about that software :)

It's nice, but the offer is very good! For those who don't have FL-Studio it seems to be a very good and useful option and can easily be used in any daw, this is like a fast instrument freeze option. So there are even a few patches possible that the cpu can't stand. And you can play everey pitch and velocity after that.

Isn't SFZ a standard format ? Shouldn't MSF support that standard ?

Post

^^^ It does! That's the point of mentioning sources for samples already in that format:)

Then it should be able to handle the VPO ? (haven't tried it)

A better question is can MSF import these VPO instruments all by itself? They're SFZ files, which is already supported by MSF. Downloading them now and will test:) Thanks for the link!

EDIT: Yeah, these load beautifully, AS IS, into MSF, no need for any additional tools. AND sound great, thanks again:)

Post

David, how do you load any of the VPO instruments ? I've tried with 'import' although the file dialog does not show any file in any of the VPO folders.

Post

First I closely read the VPO instructions, learning that the "libs" folder has to be placed inside the Virtual-Playing-Orchestra3 folder.

Then, following the screen grabs below, I open my sampler default file which has some basic FX, delete all regions, select Import SFZ, and using Favorites, navigate to the VPO folder, select the instrument I want, and click OK. On a few, I get an error message but most just pop right in, all correctly mapped and extended.

All right. It's the 'Menu' options that I somehow have missed. Thanks.

That should make a big difference:) Have fun!
