Random variable for each key stroke in TurboFilter

Hi all,
small question: TurboFilter as a rand(x) function, however that will give a continuously changing random number. Nice, but I would like to have a random contribution to, e.g. q, for each keystroke, so that each note is a bit different. Is there a possibility to do this?

cheers,
Joop

If you are using MSoundFactory, you have to use the Filter/Frequency knob and assign a by-note randomizer, like 'Note random 1', 'Note random 2', 'True random', ... So a standard modulation so to speak.
This is due to Turbofilter algorithm section not knowing when a note is being pressed.

MSoundFactory preset:

Code: Select all

I do use Msoundfactory, but would like to have as a Turbofilter preset, instead of a MSF preset.
It would already help if rand(x) would allow for an adjustable rate, which could be set very low, but I do not believe it has any parameters but x, the amount.

Hey 😊
As Vanerio mentioned, the filter algorithm is not aware of note on action. Extending the rate of the rand will still not correlate with key presses. All that would happen is that the random value could change during a currently held note.

Set up some per-voice modulation and then save it as a preset in TurboFilter. If you use modulator number 8, it is less likely that you are already using that modulator for something else already. This way the preset will probably always load correctly if you are partway through a new patch.
