need less attack and more sustain - modern nylon

I love modern nylon but there is one thing I could not achieve: i would like to lower the attack volume without affecting the sustain of the notes. Tried everything i could thing of without success:  the velocity in modern nylon seems to behave more like gain than anything, if i try low velocity i loose sustain and if i want sustain back by augmenting gain, i get the velocity back as it was.
Tried compression, no go; thought envelope (thru Logic) would work, can't get good result that way either. I also played extensively with pick position, down and up stroke. My best guest would be to use envelope the right way, i may be missing something in that area too. Any idea ? Thanks.
