9th track from my upcoming CD "Restoration"

Lyrics:

Werewoman

Late at night when the moon is full
And I’m fired up and I’m ready to roll
Then a mist seeps in and magic occurs
And a transformation comes over my little girl

I try to run but I’m a hopeless case
My legs turn to jelly when I see her face
Her hypnotic stare a/lows me to understand
That her charged up love could kill a lesser man

She becomes a werewoman
She becomes a werewoman
She becomes a werewoman
And now she’s after me

When she’s under her spell I can’t escape her charm
She's stacked with lust and I’m unarmed
But when the moon is full I no longer run
Because I look forward to the werewoman she becomes

Repeat Verse 1

Repeat Chorus

Instrumental Break

Repeat Chorus 4x

10th track from my upcoming CD "Restoration"

Lyrics:

Shadow In The Night

I guess that it’s over between us
And to go on I know is of no use
You didn’t come right out and tell me
Instead you quietly supplied me with clues

When did this begin to happen
I believed our love blossomed and grew
But our life is chilly when I leave in the morning
At night it’s freezing when 1 return to you

And it appears to me that our love is like
A shadow dying in the night
In a corner where there is no light
Our love’s a shadow in the night (repeat)

Each day we drift farther from each other
Two strangers living under one roof
Let’s try to patch the damage together
Cause we have too much at stake to lose

Let’s enter a world just for dreamers
A place that will always be warm and bright
A world filled with happy tomorrow's
And where shadows can thrive in the night

Repeat Chorus

I believed our love blossomed and grew
But at night it’s freezing when 1 return to you

Instrumental Break (E flat drone)

Shadows in the night
Shadows in the night

Repeat Chorus 4x

And it appears to me
That our love is like
A shadow in the night
A shadow in the night

Instrumental Break (chorus 2x)

Mmmm Yes our love is like
A shadow dying in the night
A shadow in the night

11th track from my upcoming CD "Restoration"

Lyrics:

One Last Kiss (Before I Go)

You didn’t ask me questions the day that I got hired
And you didn't stick around the night that I got fired
You never cared about me and I’m getting tired
But please one last kiss
Oh please one last kiss
Please just one last kiss before I go

I loved to tell you jokes but you said they didn’t amuse you
I loved to tell you riddles but you said that they confused you
I did my best but now I know I’m gonna lose you
But please one last kiss
Oh please one last kiss
Please just one last kiss before I go

One last kiss my last request
One last kiss and make it your best
One last embrace I so insist
Before I leave just one last kiss

I’m not a demon
I’m not a thug
I just need someone
Who could return my love
I need a woman
Who will always be there
I need a woman
Who will really care
But before I leave
There’s one thing I must know
If you ever really loved me
Please one last kiss before I go

We went with each other years before the truth showed in your eyes
You didn’t have to speak the words for me to hear all the lies
And there’s one final thing I want before our last goodbyes
I just want one last kiss
Please just one last kiss
Oh please one last kiss before I go

Repeat Chorus 4x

12th and final track from my upcoming CD "Restoration"

This is the 2nd song from this CD that will be covered by the group I am signed with and will most likely be their next single.

Lyrics:

Star Wanderer

You’re never in one place at a time
Never at a pad for more than an hour
You have a glass of cheap wine
You leave when your ship has the power

No one even knows your name
You’re a space-age flying Dutchman
It’s a secret from where you came
Do you think that you're some kind of tough man

Star wanderer
Nomad in the sky
Galaxies explode around you
Comets pass you by
Yeah, you’re a star wanderer
Searching through the outer reaches of the sun
Wander through the universe
But return to Base when done

Meteors sizzle in the night
While you explore black holes
Einstein probably was right
You're cruel inside like some blind mole

But those are risks that you must take
You wouldn't quit and go back under
The stars are the life that you had made
And you’ll just continue to wander

Star wanderer
Nomad in the sky
Galaxies explode around you
Comets pass you by
Yeah, you’re a star wanderer
Searching through the outer reaches of the sun
Wander through the universe
But return to Base when done

well you know i like to wait for the lp :hihi:
will get to it at some point soon now it is done.
but looking over a few of the tracks, you used to have more of a way with words :tu:

a suggestion, please don't be offended, maybe rather than forcing yourself to write new stuff, which can often feel forced, go back and pick out the gems! from when you were writing better but the recording process wasn't up to scratch.
i reckon you would have a few "great" albums worth that way, rather than a lot of reasonable with a few good tracks 8)

With the exception of "Let's Run Away" all these lyrics were written by my lyricist Leonard Herman. Unfortunately, he lost interest after writing his non fiction book on the video game industry and he doesn't write anymore. So I am left to write my own lyrics, which I have admitted many times is not my strong suit or my favorite thing to do.

Leonard stretched me as a composer as well because his stuff was not easy to write to. He tended to get very wordy where I like to keep things short and sweet.

I have tried many times to get him to write again, to no avail. Finding a good lyricist is difficult. You will discover this when I start posting the songs to my CD "The Facebook Chronicles Vol 1" which are songs I wrote to lyrics submitted by people in a Facebook group I belong to. Some of them are, well, let's just say leave a bit to be desired. You'll discover that for yourself when I get to that project.

In fact, here are the upcoming projects to be posted.

Girls II
The Facebook Chronicles Vol 1
Smorgasbord
Hop Skip And Jump (currently in progress)

That last one is probably the worst thing I've ever done, with the exception of just one song. I challenged myself to do a rap CD. I'm sure I don't have to tell you what a train wreck it is. But I never back down from a challenge so it's eventually going to be completed. I have 5 songs left to do.

Anyway, that's it for now.

Yes, I was lucky. Lenny and I were pretty close. We tried for years to make it in the business. He eventually got discouraged. He's had success with his book Phoenix, The Fall And Rise Of Video Games. His big brother Paul and I were even closer. Their parents took me in and treated me like family. They were great.

Lenny doesn't know yet that two of his songs are going to finally end up being recorded and released. I'm going to surprise him one day with his share of the royalty check. For him, this all started 42 years ago in 1979. I had only been writing 2 years prior to that on my own. He was probably responsible for the biggest difference in my music.

wow, that will be a lovely surprise :tu:
not sure it will be what they call a life changing amount, but in and of itself, the success of even a few pence royalties after 42 years thinking it was nothing is quite special in my opinion :tu: worth more than the financial reward :tu:

The money never mattered to me. All I wanted was to know that somebody out there thought enough of my music to put it out there for the public.

Based on this groups regular sales figures (they sent me their financials) it looks like I'm probably going to make a few hundred dollars off the first project based on number of songs and my other contributions (in some cases they are using my MIDI files so I'll be also getting performance royalties)

So no, it's not a fortune but it establishes me as a income earning writer which opens doors for me, such as the ability to finally join ASCAP. At least that was the way it worked years ago. You couldn't join ASCAP until you were a published and income earning writer. Not sure what the rules are today so I should probably check.
